New BK Cone!

Everything is working out great I'll definitely recommend the cone to my friends the recovery time after feeding or major work like me changing 50% of my substrate is faster than my bk mini.
I do like the cup that lifts off of the mini better than the screw on cup but other than that the 250 cone performs much better than my mini 160.
This is about at day of running.

Is the adjustable pump used on the 180 available for purchase or order. I have an ATB Mikro (not happy with the pump on it) with the same neck size and similar dimensions.

The only place I've seen preorders is Aquarium Specialty http://www.aquariumspecialty.com/protein-skimmers/internal-skimmers/bubble-king-internal-skimmers

But they're still $200-$300 more than ordering it direct and aren't expected till February.

So why do you think there's so little interest for the cone in the US?
They work great and they're around the same price as the mini.

The price of them here in the states will make them a hard sell compared to the Alpha's. The Mini's fill a niche that the Alpha, Super Marin, and Delux model does not fill - compact design. Having said that, I think they're a great skimmer, and looks wise one of the coolest ones available on the market.

How do u tune yr skimmer? Was told by royal exlcusiv to adjust the water level to the resonator(input to the siliencer) for best performance.
How do you adjust the white knob on the pump?

I don't know if I could get the water level up that high I'm about 3/4's of the way up and I'm already skimming super wet.
as for the pump I've screwed out the restricter for the pump all the way out.
I still haven't found any reason to restrict the air going in to the pump.

I haven't really played around with it though it's running nice wide open.

My sump water level is abt 21.5cm. I've adjusted the water level at the resonator level. The white knob is turn anticlkwise 1 round from fully clkwise position.
I read from a chinese website and it mentioned the white knob is to control air water ration, but it didn't mention much about clkwise will have more air less water.
However, looking at the bottom compartment of the skimmer, white knob in anticlkwise position will see an increase of air bubbles. I guess white knob in anticlkwise will have more air less water.

I find that with the white knob in anticlkwise position, skimate is more wet, in clkwise is more dry.

Just ordered a Bubble King Double Cone 200 with the new Red Dragon 3 skimmer pump (controllable speed 400-4000 rpm), or some call it the "RD3 Mini", or "RD3 Speedy". Don't know when I'll get it yet...

Does anyone out there have this combo running yet?
If so, how is it running and do you have any tips?

I ordered the Bubble King Double Cone 200 with RD3 Speedy pump on Feb 28, 2013 from Sewatec. Today, March 4th - the my order is still pending. Their website says that they are on company holiday from March 4th until the 8th, and orders go out starting March 11th. So it looks like it may take a while coming from Germany to Michigan. This will give me time to clean up my sump, gotta look at the bright side!
