Every septic system is different

I'm very concerned for my particular location.
Ok...it's all just an excuse to be lazy.

All kidding aside, I personally believe this is the direction of reef aquariums in the 200 to 1,000 gallon range.
Perhaps even larger than 1,000 USA gallon systems.
It can't hurt to give it a shot- I can always go back to what I've been doing for 20 years.

I'm slowly coming around, not necessarily to "Triton Brand" but certainly their methodology. I'll likely ham and egg a bastardized version using my friendly neighborhood chemist.

I'll be following closely...I recall you used to rarely test for anything Gary, what little I know about Triton looks like a 180 degree turn! FWIW I dumped saltwater into a septic tank and out a window to run along the foundation for years with no issues. Hard to believe you can do better than your 20+ years of success!

I don't think Triton is a 180 for me-
it will be more like guiding me back on track as I roll along.
There will be a lot of new factors for me to deal with.

Devil s advocate here. Tom's/ reefshope tank is tap water and a tote/ sump. BIG A $$ water change as needed. not saying it's right , it's the tank I judge all others against. poop is poop. It has to come out. The fancey pants dialysis unit the museum used was not the answer. consistent , hassle free water changes is the only method that works for me. too much work , forget it. Snake oil , automation, clean up crews, maybe stretch the time table. once it feels like work or life gets in the way. My tanks unravel. equipment failure or maintenance issues are my downfall.

There is no right or wrong way. If the system is very efficient at removing waste and you're willing to pay very close attention to nutrient levels and trace element depletion, there's no reason you can't get by on zero water changes. Most people (including me) would rather just change the water than get that deep into the chemistry.

Thanks to everyone at Caribbean Forest for helping me out!
I've been posting pix on my fb wall.

Without pix, everyone is an expert reefkeeper.
Only a picture can show if an aquarist knows what they are doing. Photobucket is dead to me and I haven't taken the time to move to another hosting site.
Truth be told, I probably never will.
Sorry.

Why not just use Tapatalk from your phone and upload them that way?

She is a strange woman. Obviously a petverted taste in men. If I qualify as a man? Not sure anymore. I know I used to be one.....

Gary -

very interested to see your results with the triton method, its crossed my mind to give it a shot a couple times, maybe you can push me over the edge.

for the Radions have you read this article from CorlLabs? Reef Wholesalers spent time transitioning from MH to LED - looks like a lot of effort went into it, and they shared the results & profiles :) I just switched to their LPS program last week. if you have an apex you can select it from rush and it will load in fusion where you can tailor it.

Thanks for helpful suggestions!

Triton method revolves around their labs water testing. There appears to be hundreds (if not thousands!) of variations on the original Triton method as described by Ehsan Dashti :wavehand:

Next step here is wiring breaker box for a dedicated aquarium circuit
