new "canvas"

Thanks, crp & Kent. I got some help setting up those floor jacks... along with moving everything into the new aquarium. I really appreciated all of the help- there's no way I could have done it all alone in one day.
The newly set up aquarium is progressing well.
It took two weeks for the new drains to develop the biofilm that helps quiet them- a really rough time trying to acclimate the family to the new aquarium!
The nuisance algae outbreak has been limited to a few patches of cyano and a little bit of Bryopsis. No diatoms.
Everything is now tested out to be "good" and I'm anxiously awaiting coralline algae to show up on the glass and/or PVC somewhere.

Hiya, Jamie! YT's are vastly underrated by most reefkeepers because they're commonly seen at LFS's. These fish are freakishly yellow. I've been toying with adding two more to make it a trio...

From the second picture, it looks like the wife said, "you can make holes HERE and that's it." lol

Do you still have the MJ1200's on the wavemaker?

I really lucked out big time. The wife showed me where the aquarium would go and the floor directly below it's drains happened to be open between the floor joists- otherwise I would have needed to do some (undesirable) PVC work.
I'm still running MJ's on a wavemaker. Four MJ1200's kick on and off into the returns of the Iwaki100 and two MJ's are firing on and off downward into corners that would usually be rather stagnent.
It's entertaining to watch the "battle of the water currents".

When I was in Hawaii last year we walked past a store that had a 2 story aquarium built into the side of the building ,there were stairs on the inside of the building along side of the tank so you could walk to the top and walk down ,they had about 60 adult yellow tangs in the tank that schooled together. You could see them in the tank from a 100 ft away before you could see the tank.

So when do the frags go in?
Have you bought your case of superglue yet?
:D

- Mac
The wife bought me a bottle of superglue (not gel).
Close to what I need- but no cigar. (It's the thought that counts.)
I'll be putting frags in very soon.

Jim- I know what you mean. Cleveland Metro Park Zoo had a big tank full of Yellows and Hippos. You could see them from a very long distance away.

update

The foreground was designed as a "lagoon" type area and these corals fit the environment perfectly.

Looks like it is almost time for you to make a road trip to my place and reclaim some of you original corals and of course some new ones.

Looks good Gary. Looks like some of Rick's corals there. I was eyeing them up too. I see more LPS in that tank than SPS. Are you converting? :D

Is that a scolymia? It looks awesome. Very nice!
Thanks. I think RandyO can confirm my suspicion that it's a type of Cynarina.

Whats in the background?
The rest of the rockwork. Some hair algae. A Yellow Tang. Some SPS frags.

That would be one helluva road trip that I'd love to make. :)

No conversion. This was the original plan of the new aquarium, Randy: one end of the aquarium without rock (a deep reef/lagoon type environment) with low flow and the other end stacked high with rock for SPS in a high energy zone. I have a few SPS frags right now and I'll be adding more.

Sweet Gary..!

Any plans for the sea floor yet? :)
maybe a bubbling sunken treasure chest. Whaddaya think? :D

I've always seen them called Scolymia, but it's been a debated topic for years. Either Cynarina or Scolymia works. But looking at the skeleton, it sure looks like Cynarina.
