Mike- I moved the entire contents of our house (no professional movers). This diverted my time from moving the aquarium. A few very nice URS members helped me move the aquarium and it's contents, but every square inch of liverock was covered with corals and stuff got crushed when it was placed in the new aquarium. I took too long to get the system up and running once the stugff was in the tank. It was a chain reaction- all bad.

My wife is not at all interested in the particulars of the hobby, but she has said, "I hope that after setting up this new tank (180g), it will look like Gary's on RC...It's really pretty".
That's too bad about the move. Hopefully that in itself will show people what not to do when moving.

this picture shows how "Gary's unknown Acropora" has overgrown, killed and sealed off two Vermitid snails with it's growth. This Acropora is now in the process of killing off and overgrowing more of the Porites and Vermitids.

I've had this particular Acropora for many years. It can be seen in my TOTM article in 'Reefkeeping Online Magazine' (April '06 issue). Before I lost most of my corals in our move last year I fragged this Acro. Fortunately, Gary Greguire provided me with a frag of this very same coral to grow in my new reef aquarium. Here's a growth series in my current system. Note the Vermitid snail before it got overgrown.

thanks. My reactor was offline for a few weeks but it's back up and running now. I also use limewater and liquid two part alk/Ca supplements.
Marc & Kurt thanks. This coral is definitely stunning. Tough as nails, too. If this is the same Acro that you got from Steve you'll soon see what I mean, Kurt.

An amazing set-up. I first one of your tanks in an older totm article, and now thanks to Marc linking to this thread, Ive been able to catch up on how things are going.
Congratulations on 14 years in the hobby. A mile stone lo look forward to.
I do have a question that I hope you can help with. All lps I have are healthy, and only my Lobophyilla had a little skeleton showing, which now is not the case. I have not had to deal with any real problems with LPS, hence my question.
My question relates to a fellow reefer, who has the same, if not worse problem than the lps you showed on page 6.
Could you explain what you did to aid in the recovery of that coral please. Feeding apparently is not helping his coral. Only problem I see at the moment is his nitrates are at 20ppm.
Any information you give I will pass on. I'd link the thread, but it's a different forum, unless you'd like to see for yourself the problem.

Hi, Chris. Thanks for the kind words.
Reducing nitrates from 20ppm is advisable but also have your friend check his levels of Mg (magnesium) calcium and alkalinity. Also make sure that no fish are nipping LPS- I had to re-arrange some LPS when I introduced my Emperor.

thanks, Mark. Maybe I'll take a FTS (full tank shot) tonight of the kitchen side.
I fragged the heck out of the living room side this past week for an upcoming URS "garage sale" event and it looks like a cyclone destroyed my corals HOWEVER fragging does have it's advantages: I've glued many many coral frags all around my aquarium and it should look truly incredible about 10 months from now.
