Got him last Thursday. He is still spending a lot of time hiding. When he comes out he's very beautiful. Eating well.

That is correct. He does not go for the big chunks, but goes after a lot of very small pieces.

I've always liked chocolate tangs. I got one myself about 3 months ago, it was one of the last "common" tangs that I had never kept in an aquarium. They are great fish, and the caudal spine is very small, I'm hoping that signifies that they arent as aggressive and "mean" as some of the tangs that have large ones, although that's just a wish at this point but I hope time proves me correct.

Mine is with some anthias, a flasher wrasse, bellus angel, and cardinal fish. No problems for two months so far.

Eats everything that goes in the tank.

Hmmmm...

I have similar stocking in my FOWLR and would love to add a pyroferus tang, but have read that they become quite aggressive. Keep us posted on how your's does.

I had mine in a 135 with a sailfin ,3 anthias and other smaller fish... it never bothered any of it's tankmates. lost it during a tank swap. loved that fish... you will too!

Awesome fish.I had one at a point in time that grew quick in my 60 and then started getting HLLE and hide so I traded him in. Wish I still had him to include in my 600.
