New Clam - Colors?

Alright, I decided to give my first clam a go. I picked up this maxima from jeff's exotic in gardena yesterday. nice sky blue dood. Anyways, the clam looks purple through the acrylic, and sky blue through the water... what gives? I have this same problem with some purple shrooms. The shrooms are very blue from above, but look plain ol' purple through the acrylic. grr!! I'm only running a single 175w pendant (5500K a;skjdg;) right now. In a week or so, it'll be 2 x 250 hqi (coralvue 20k). Anyways, any ideas? btw, what ya'll think of the clam?

It has to do with the way clams reflects light. It doesnt have anything to do with looking through the acrylic, it is that you are looking from the side vs above. No matter what you do, if you look at your clam perpendicular to the light it will look different than when you look parallel to the light. Solution....Clam Tank It is designed so that you can view your clams from above.
