ItÃ"šÃ‚´s a pain not to have a forum to be able to talk about this interesting theme in the best way.
Too many experiences, pics and too many advices for a single post.
However we could try to organize a bit all this info.
If weÃ"šÃ‚´re really interesting on making some experiments, I think one of the first things to do is to be able to ID correctly our corals; weÃ"šÃ‚´re talking about at least two different genus: Dendronephtya and Scleronephtya, and probably also about Neospongodes, even it could be interesntig to talk about Lemnalia, Paralemnalia or Stereonephtya.
The different genus (and probably also the different species in the same genus) requiere different cares, if you are able to compare the polyp of a sclero and a dendro, theyÃ"šÃ‚´re very different.
What do you think about opening a new post only for secleronephtya and one only for dendronephtya, both could have an introduction linking to this great post, an a link to the other post (sclero post linkig to dendros one, and a link to the scleroÃ"šÃ‚´s post in the dendroÃ"šÃ‚´s one). We all could know about this posts, and it could be easier to get more new members interested in this... now a new member should read 13 pages...

I thought the only way to positively ID any one of these and all octocorals for that matter is 1) to view its sclerites under a microscope 2) to know and understand the identifying characteristics and 3) to have something to reference what you're seeing to. So far none of that info has been presented here.

The polyps of a Sclero are WAY much bigger than those of a Dendro.
Scleros also do not have this "mesh" of sclerites in their tissue, therefore their stems look considerable different.
If you have a chance to get the book of Fabricius and Alderlate, Soft Corals and Sea Fans, ISBN 0642322104 you can find good pictures in there, helping with the identification

Now I have to get another book.

Well, coral identification isnÃ"šÃ‚´t easy, but with a little work, working together we may get something interesting...
In this theme have posted a lot of people, and we have more o less bibliography, but together we could have a lot of good info. Furthermore, thanks to Internet we can ask and talk to specialist like Borneman, Alderslade etc.

I was at Interzoo and was at the stand off Cyclop-eeze. I found this item very interesting and picked it up. Sofar Gorgonians really love the food.

The nice thing about this product that it will not breakdown for 24 hours and therefor be eaten or skimmed out before breaking down.
Are there more experiences with this product?

On the marineaquarium.nl website, I checked out the non-photosynthetic tank, and at the bottom, it showed feeding ingredients for Fauna Marin products. I think I want to try that out, or something similar. If that's what is used to feed that tank, then I know for sure that it will feed my measly 2" scleronepthya

Price was lesser than that. I'm not sure what Qty is $175,-- I bought 500 grams for a lot less. But this was at Interzoo so not a retail price.

Oops...I knew you had some affiliation with that site, and I couldn't quite put my fingers on that. I tried looking on Aquairum Obsession's website, but it didn't give any information other than saying that they are the exclusive distributor of Fauna Marin in N. America.
BTW - you have an amazing tank. How are you able to keep good water quality with the enormous amount of food going through the tank? Do you deal with high nitrates?

Thanks Sofar I only had hi PO4 but with some rowaphos I'm looking at 0.4 ppm at the moment. I use a lot off carbon and luckelly sofarno detectable nitrates.
dannyfromholland. I expect that Hatchfry is the same or similar to Golden Pearls: a commercial larval feed. I would expect it to be of similar quality. People like Eric Borneman speak highly of GP as a good microfood for some corals. I would expect that if dendros injest and digest this type of food it will be quite nutritious.

hmm....several ways to take that statement. Being a positive individual and this being the Advanced topic forum, I agree that it is dissappointint that a source of information such as RC can't exist without financial support from commercial interests. I also think it can be agreed that we don't want everyone and anyone spamming the forums for sales.
My intent with the 'friendly reminder' was only to remind anyone that might be associated with the product to remember the UA. There have been no issues and I don't forsee any issues. I definitely don't want any issues with threads like this one that are informative and have a potential to move the hobby forward.

Does anyone have any experience with Reef Roids? Does it feed dendros and scleros? What about that new RC sponsor Reef Chili?
Here's what I was thinking about doing...I was going to get some baby brine, phytoplankton, cyclopeez, and reef roids, mix it up as good as I can, then freeze it and use that as food for my sclero...since I don't have as much experience as some (most) of you, can I get some feedback? I figured to use phyto and leave out the zoo because it's too large of a size for the polyps to consume.
