New ESL Release

Hey Guys,

When i programmed using the latest ESL when I enabled the lunar it seemed like the 2 radions were acting the same. They are set to the High Growth however when the lunar was enabled it seemed to make one light really dim and the other was bright when it was in the moon light phase.

Any ideas

I would start with calibrating both lights. Let us know if that doesn't seem to resolve the issue.

Wow, this is such a massive improvement from the ecosmart config utility. It's unbelievable how much easier it is to use.

#1 request: please disable that auto-time out feature if the program is in the middle of a critical function. Someone came to my door while it was updating light 1 out of 8 during the initial migration, and I didn't get back to the computer in time. It took me a solid hour to get the process going again. I understand why banks have auto-time out features, but there's no real security issues with an aquarium lighting profile, so there's not much of a reason to force a log out. At least not when there's a critical process occurring.

I'm going to try out that lunar cycle, that's the feature that drew me away from the config utility...

Thank you for the kind words regarding EcoSmart Live. We are dedicated to making it a robust, powerful and intuitive platform.

Regarding your feedback, we take our customers security very seriously, however understand that long running operations and leaving the computer can extend past the timeout (which is set to 30 minutes). We will work to see if there is something we can do to extend the timeout when appropriate.

Thanks Shaun! Since I posted I've been playing with the portal more, and I keep getting pleasantly surprised. It's not just that bugs are fixed, it's a full overhaul of the UI experience that is so very pleasant to interact with. I'm really loving the drop down for time set points with the sliders.

For the lunar cycle, I'm trying to sort out the best schedule to set. In an earlier post you suggested that setting a single intensity of 3% of one colour at onset of night was preferable to having a setpoint at 2am that night mode ramped up and down to (which is what I would have by default assumed would be the right way to do it). Do you recommend setting that single colour at 100% with the intensity at 3%, or is it more of a personal preference thing? I ask because if you set cool white at 100% at 3% intensity, the tank is really quite bright, probably too bright for fish to go properly to sleep, while blue at the same setting is dim enough that I think they'll sleep. Does the moon phase schedule ever have a night in the program where the night lights are 100% off (new moon)?

Also, is it critical that it's only one colour? I find that a mix of royal blue and cool white is most appealing to my eye, but I'm not sure how that will work with moon phase settings.

And finally, what sets the moon-phase schedule? For example, is every single tank in the world with moon phases enabled operating on the same lunar schedule, or is it tank specific and tied to the date you enabled moon phase?

Thanks again!

hmm I just re-red my last question and realized I wasn't clear enough. What I'm really wondering is if your moon phase cycle will get re-set every time you flash a program to your lights, or if there is some mechanism that saves the relative intensity that your moon lights are supposed to be at when fiddle with other parts of the program?

Thank you Shaun, I followed the suggested steps. I still get to "Retrieving details for Radion 2...." then my device manager thrashes/hangs (I can esc out so technically it may not have crashed). I attempted this with another laptop and saw similar results.

I just cleared your profile on the backend. Can you please try again.

right --- that i can do, i would control everything from my mac --- my tank is an inwall, and the canopy access is from the back which make it a PITA to control w/ the usb hardwired. If i could use the wireless usb connection (it appears that there is such a thing after a quick google search, but i've never used one) while logged onto ESL, I should be in business --- thats what i'm trying to confirm

hi monty, too answer your question, i bought the iogear wireless 4-port sharing station and this is working for me. my pc was just too far to keep connecting a wire and having my little ones running around was not safe with the wire on the floor. hope this helps you.

That is true, you don't have to toggle the cycle button on the Radion to switch between modes. Essentially, the last mode that you programmed in EcoSmart Live is the one that will be active on the light.

To Shaun's post above. I have a suggestion for the software and perhaps it is there and I'm just missing it. It would seem easy enough to add an indicator of the current mode that is running. I realize the mode you are running is toggled green but a simple text line might be helpful especially for newbies like myself. Something as simple as putting it under the radion(s) identified. Current Mode: Artificial xyz.etg

I just tried to login this morning and I can't connect.

I physically unplugged my Radions from the wall, reboot my PC and still nothing.

When I login, it says "connecting" and then after 1-2mins, it just says "disconnected" and clicking the reconnect does nothing.

Same thing is happening to me now. Connection Manager says it's connected but ESL won't connect.

Me as well, it worked fine earlier in the week when I got everything set up, now I can't seem to get ESL to register my lights. It just hangs on the swirling 'connecting' screen. I've quit the connection manager, re-booted, re-signed in, and it won't work. Not sure what else to try.

We have been following this thread all weekend and appreciate your feedback and patience outside of our normal customer service hours. If you had trouble last night and/or today with EcoSmart Live, please try again. We found that there was a network connectivity problem that has been resolved.

WOndering if this is an issue again? are other people able to connect? FWIW, I'm not expecting a response from Ecotech until after christmas, I hope they're all happily stuffing themselves on turkey and cookies like we are here, I was just trying to show my nephew some things with the lights tonight and couldn't connect it.
