New gig deflating. At questions

Got a new gig that started to deflate and have had a qt tank at the ready and my cipro bottle but ended up with a problem. Lack of a spare sufficient light for the qt tank.

Would doing night cycle with the qt tank and cipro and light cycle with the display tank negate the treatment? Granted id start with a 100% water change for eqch dosing. Is the light cycle in the qt a large part of the success?

Would a household cfl suffice just for the week of cipro if this isn't a viable option? I moved a year ago and lost my backup t5s and didn't want to upset my display tank by removing an LED module.

I would get him out to treat him and get a cheap clip on light with screw on CF or Daylight LED on him. It will be fine for 1 week. I did that and it was fine. Treat ASAP and just use any makeshift light, even one of the tube florescence is fine for a few days

For cfl I have soft white and higher kelvin daylight bulbs (more pure white color forget the k rating). Which would be better?

He's kinda bleached right now that's why I'm so worried about his day cycle. Thanks!

Alright. Thanks Minh. I have a small desk lamp I can elevate over the tank with some books and point it down at the qt. I'll start treatment tonight when I get home from work.

I got an old cellphone taped to the side of the tank with the camera running so I could see what he's up to.

He didn't deflate for 24hrs so I was giving him the benefit of the doubt. But he deflated again. Treatment #1 night cycle.

Will add pics later won't let me on my phone. Woops.

He looks perfectly healthy (minus being 80% bleached) when he was inflated in the display. Tight mouth and all. So I think he's early on sick. He's got a tint of neon green and brown under my LEDs.

This guy came from live aquaria believe it or not. I didn't expect so much bleaching.

Are these the "pellets" I'm looking for to be evacuated orion?
I've seen some bigger ones as well.

Yes. There are not toxic or anything like that. It is Zoos so remove it to keep it from break down and dirty up the water.

So its zoox not bad infection crap? Going to do a 90-95% water change tonight and syphon everything out very good. Or transfer him to a bucket and just rinse everything down. He's currently spitting out a very large chunk.

I think the dead zoox and the infection are related. Definitely remove the dead zoox as soon as you see it. The easiest way to QT is to have two 10 gallon tanks. That way, you can remove the nem, put it in the empty 10 gallon tank, then fill it with clean, temperature-adjusted water. While it's filling you can clean the other tank and equipment. IME by the time the tank is full, you can transfer the cleaned heater and powerhead, add Cipro, then turn off the lighting.

I found zoox eating protozoan when I examined the pellets under the microscope. But they were only few so I somewhat doubt they are the actual culprit. It is more likely that there are bacteria involved.

I remove what I can during the day when I'm home. When I'm at work I have a webcam on him to mainly just watch for deflates and the status of his mouth. Pretty addicting to watch honestly. He was definitely sticky during the water change last night.

Not sure if I'm doing more harm than good at this point but here's lights on after treatment 3. Changed from a 5000k led bulb to a 6500 cfl.

No deflations in 24 hours. Mouth is closed. Color still sucks but that will for awhile. Still not sure I've seen his max size yet though.
