How long is it recommended to stay in QT before it goes into DT?

I'm going to wait at minimum 3 days and observe for any deflation.. if any! Right now all is looking good but they can take a turn for the worse months down the road.

I'll be doing a 50% WC late this afternoon but so far so good.

Now he's anchored himself to the bottom glass, so hopefully he just kinda hangs out there.. I moved the koralia a little closer so he is getting more flow. I plan on doing a water change early this afternoon, and so far no deflating, and no rat poop coming out almost 24hrs into it... His tentacles are stubby though so not sure if he is just acclimating or not.

OK, so just did a 5G water change, moved the koralia and pointed it rgith at it... it's folded up, happy, and some tentacles are getting more tapered at the end, and less bulbous... So far so good..

I figured maybe he was craving more light, so I put a second 135W BoostLED Mu Series fixture above him... now he has more light than ever.

Will update later on, but looking good! No deflation, mouth tight, and tentacles are vibrating all over the pedal. I'm taking that as a good sign.

Would I have seen some deflation or something by now?

Woops, jsut realize I didn't take pictures for lights out. Nothing new to report. It's sitting in the same spot anchored to the glass, and looks great.

Interestingly enough, I went downstairs to let our dogs outside for a few minutes and decided to check on the Gig. The lights are out and I just used a flashlight. He's upright kinda semi folded into a taco, LONGER tentacles, much longer than in the day time, and a night tight mouth in the middle. Tentacles are vibrating and looks awesome.

I wonder if the stubby tentacles in the day is acclimating to my lights? He was under basically zero lighting at the LFS.... I've been told you can't bake gigs in light, but I would imagine they need to get used to it first regardless.

Morning update... Looking awesome, nice and large. Seems to be settling in.

Hard to get a picture of the mouth from the top, but it's nice and tight... Minh it's day #3 today.... how long should I keep him in here? Monday\Tuesday?

You have great quarantine setting, there is no hurry. He basically get as good condition in Quarantine as in DT. I would take my time. As long as you need to ensure that he is not infected. 4-7 days without treatment and no deflation should ensure that he is well (IMO). He is looking great.

Thanks, will do! As long as I have the time to continue to do the 50% WCs (which I will) that probably makes the most sense... Hoping to see him acclimate to the LED a little more before he goes under the Radions.. He is shaggy and bushier when the lights are out completely so that's a great sign.

I was worried about that the other day but when I walked down overnight, it looked just like it did at the LFS under minimal light.. shaggy and you can tell it's a Gig. Tentacles are now vibrating even though they aren't that long..

My guess is it is still acclimating to being under almost zero light (ambient window light at LFS) to about 8" under 135W of LEDs.. Look at the first picture in the thread, you can see that isn't a haddoni...

OK... so I went downstairs to turn on the blue lights and take a right away picture for everyone to show how much bigger he always was at night, but when I turned on the light, I was SHOCKED!

Instead of being a little bit bigger, he is HUGE, and by huge I mean 8" at least! He's almost as big as my purple in the main tank. He's crawled across the glass and is now on the egg crate (thank God we put it there or else he'd be power head food).. Mouth is tight, tentacles are stubby but you can see he's opened up completely, folded, and reaching for light so I moved my LED over him. We'll see how he looks when the full are on completely today.. maybe he's light acclimating and he's getting close to being DT ready!!!!

Pardon all the blue everyone, but when the whites come on in a bit I will take more pictures.

So when I was a bit worried earlier about the tentacles being so bulby and close together like a Haddoni.... yea... he was just tightened up and acclimating to being in the QT. MUCH different looking now!!

Here they are, full whites... this guy looks amazing.... color, mouth, tentacles vibrating... wow! Besides the stubby tentacles which I realize show not optimal health he's responding well. Our purple had the same stubby tentacles and two months later is turning into a 9" shag rug.

Really tough getting pictures from the back with any whites in them!

Pictures are tough because of the blues.... I can see plenty of purple verracue from the back though.

Glad to hear he is doing well. When you posted the pic below and said that he was ~4" I thought he was going to be a very nice size when more acclimated to your system. Thanks again for sharing the pics and progress. It gives up hope to know that we have a solution to successfully treat a sick gig when necessary.

Thank you everyone... He did look unusually small when he came into my system and the density of the tentacles gave me a hunch he would get bigger... much bigger. It took a couple of days but he's opened up to what I would think is more appropriate of a size...

Here are a couple of the column with flash... Now I really have to go to work for a few hours

I am very confident this is indeed a Gigantea simply because the Verracue go so far down the column and they are purple.. I am not sure if the foot area of a green gig is green like purples & blues have their respective colors so other green Gig keepers can chime in here.

For now he's anchored himself to the egg crate and is yearning for more flow it seems like. Not sure how much longer I'm going to be confining this guy to the QT.. Will continue to monitor.
