beaker..this is for a 29g tank though...not a 72g like yours...don't you think two #3's would be too much?

I got 2 #3 for my 75G reef. I don't like them. Very inconsistent flow pattern. Magnets weak. You can't aim them very easy. I was expectiong a nice flow patter of tight to wide but it is an odd pattern like only blows out right side and bottom.
I have constant scum on surface since installing them and have pointed them every way I can. You see no matter how you install them they create a vortex from the surface which makes the surface all around the pump not flow to the overflow. Sideways,upside down etc... If it isnt blowing the surface everywhere it is blowing the sand or corals all over. Its just not configured well in my opinion.
I want a more predictable flow pattern.

P.s. - Did I say they are big and look stupid with the red ball in the socket. They are supposed to hang with the cord at the bottom.

Any pictures of the Hydors side by side with larger Seios and Tunze NanoStreams? I am trying to get an idea of the size of both compared to my existing Seio 1100 and 820.

So they may not be as big around as a tunze mount style Seio but they extend out further horizontally?

I got 2 400's on the top and 2 850's at the bottom of my hexagon and they create good flow without much heat and with low power consumption. My tank temp has dropped 2 degrees and everything is much, much quieter. They're a little on the big side, but I like them so far...

I thought the same thing, I for one have 2 of the 4's on a 150 that is 48"x24"x31"tall and it is 2 less of needing more"4's" of being just right. The size is no big deal considering cost to function on these, ya I would want more flow cheaper cost and quarter size product for $50, who wouldnt! But the 4's I have work till the next product comes out for a $100 that do more than these, until then I am pleased with what I have.

I just got my 2 Koralia 3's mounted in my 55 gal reef. Mounting was a breeze and aiming possibilities seem endless. I replaced 2 Seio 820's and the Koralias seem to take up alot less space (even though they are about the same size) in the tank and produce more flow. It's also nice to mount them on the sides without it looking clumsy. really impressed so far. They feel pretty sturdy and and flow like crazy.

Ya know after reading thru this thread it proves a good point that TAAM's powerheads are like mini heaters!!! I mean since I installed my two Seio's my heater hasn't turned on once! They keep my tank at a steady 79 degrees... I am expecting the tank to drop to at least 77 if not 76 when the Hydor's come in.... I hope my heater still works!!
