New JBJ 24

Just getting back into the hobby after a long break. Starting off small with a JBJ AIO.

So far the tank is just cycling with live rock/dry rock mix. I've added the In tank media basket and I've also ordered the TUNZE 9001 skimmer. Currently running 2 Hydor power heads on the Hydor controller.

Waiting for my surface skimmer box to arrive to turn the back area into an actual sump and I will add an ATO system right after.

Other upgrades will be replacing the power compact lights with a LED retro and an actual controller to run the system.

i posted in your other thread...looks like you already got your modular pre-skimmer ordered.

i have a jbj24 up and running (but soon to be broken down and contents moved into a newer bigger tank). have had it for 6 or 7 years now and i bought it used, so who knows how old it actually is, haha. solid tank overall, i've been happy with it for the most part.

Thanks guys. The pre filter skimmer box worked instantly to actually turn the rear section into a sump. Pretty slick setup. I've been tied up with work so the tank is just running with the Rock in it. Next week I'm going to put the skimmer in and try to see if I'm able make it work with the factory hood. I like the look of the hood and my wife (the boss) isn't liking the open top look. Ha lol.

All parameters were looking good so I made my 5 year olds day and we added a pair of clowns and a small cleanup crew. 8 snails and 8 blue legs. Hoping to set up the ATO this weekend if time permits.

Thank you. I wasn't sure if I'd like the smaller AIO but I must admit it's pretty cool. There's a lot that can be done with these.

I had a 14g BioCube for a while, was a nice little tank. Always had trouble with skimmers for that small a tank though.

Finally setup the Tunze 9001 skimmer. Saw some mixed reviews but so far I'm happy. It's pulling skimmate less than 24 hours of run time. It's a tight squeeze obviously with the small sump area but I like it. I'm also a fan of the factory hood still working. I currently have filter floss and carbon in chamber 1, skimmer in chamber 2 and heater and return in chamber 3.

Next projects include ATO and adding cheato to the bottom chamber of my media basket. Obviously this will include setting up a refuge light. Any input on ATO and refuge lights are more than welcome!

Added a few frags this week seeing al parameters are in order. Small frogspawn, and 2 types of Zoas. I'll be adding a MP10 and removing the 2 koralia powerheads I started with. I bought them knowing at some point I would want an MP10. Should have just bought the MP10 right out of the gate I guess.

Ended up picking up an MP10 from Mario at Aquatica and then stopped by Blue Line to check out the corals. Couldn't help but to bring a few home. All corals look great with polyp extension already showing. Definitely need to supplement or just get rid of the PC lighting all together. I'm going to do some research today on retro fit LED. I'd like to add a Kessil light but my wife really wants the stock hood left on the tank. Not sure that will work. Any way fresh off a sand bed cleaning and 5 gallon water change. Enjoy!

Looks great!
Are there any specific corals or fish you are planning on adding to the tank?

Thank you! Mostly LPS and softies as far as corals. Lots of ricordia and zoas for sure. I'll sprinkle in a few montis but keep the SPS to a minimum.

As far as fish goes I'm going to add a goby/pistol shrimp combo and a really nice wrasse to round things out.

Pulled the trigger today and added a Kessil A160WE and controller. Set it up this afternoon and man what a difference.

A little update for the tank. A few new coral frags, purple and green hammer, a small Acan colony, some assorted zoas and an orange ricordia and purple striped mushroom rock. Also a small frag of green Monti cap. Current fish list is 2 tank raised percs and a Midas blenny.

Anyone that has an established 24 gallon or so, what's your fish stock list look like? I know every tank varies but I'm curious to when your maxing out your bioload.
