New lights. Any acclimation needed?

I am upgrading from a 20H to a 40 Breeder in a few days. Right now I have a Crocea under a 150W 20K MH. The 40 will have a Aqualight Pro 150W 10K plus 2 x 65 W actinics. Will I need to acclimate the clam to the new lights or will it adapt on its own?

yes you will, more for the change from 20k to 10k. how long are your lights on now? you are going to want to cut back the lights a little or screen the clams for a few weeks.good choice on the 10k you will see a big deference in your clams

Thanks. I run the 20K for 10 hours now. Thinking of cutting it to 8 or 9 and running the actinics before and after. I also have screen so I will use a sheet.

you got it. start at 8hr. for a day and see how it go's if you need to add the screen then do.then give them a little more every 2 weeks intill you are back up to where your were. good luck

Surprisingly clams are a bit hard to bleach or even agitate when changing lighting.

had one of my calm (that i saved from a local reefer that has under N.O. lighting to 250w mh and still looked the same
