New Logo Thread

No Deadline

No Deadline

If we are going to vote on the new design at the next meeting, we need to get the images before then. Unless I'm mistaken and the logo design deadline is not at the next meeting.

We will talk about this Issue as no deadline or Vote is aking place, Just discussion.

It would be cool to see what you could come up with - you did a pretty good job revising the old logo.

Thanks Zachb, I hope i can come up with something everyone likes. I'm just waiting on all the club members to post pics. Maybe that will inspire me to come up with something good and different.

Sorry I have been MIA lately. Bill and I talked about this and I thought it is a great idea to have club members have input on the future of the club's image.

I originally was going to recreate a new logo and use that as a platform to base the website's design. I would love to have ideas from other members of what they think the logo should look like. Also, if any members have any ideas, but are not artistically or graphically inclined, just let me know. The idea is the more important part as it should have meaning and significance to the club. I can handle the graphic part if you have a basic sketch or idea.

I currently have a few ideas and will be working on them within the next few weeks. Unfortunately I was out of town for a while and have had mid-terms all this week. I hope to be able to roll out some designs before the meeting.

Lastly, I would suggest some logo design tips.
A logo is basically the identity of the club. It can have meaning, but it can also be simple. I like this approach because a simple logo can conform to anything in the future. Anything too complicated will become dated very quickly. Too many colors will also make it hard to implement other additional designs (ie. the website, shirts, etc..) because you will then limit the color palate. The best logo IMO will be one that looks great in color, but will also look great when it is in black and white. That way, it can be used in a few different applications, like letterheads or business cards.

I hope that wasn't too much information. Again, feel free to give any input or ideas. I would love to have member creativity in this. Thanks,

I have lots of ideas - but the Company I run just got sold and I'm working 65+ hours a week, and have not had much time to sketch them out... Plus no one made any comments about the samples of my art work I posted at the top of this thread, and I guess I took that as "not the type of drawing talent you're looking for". I understand the samples are animals (not fish), but thought you could see what I might be capable of by the images I posted. Understand they aren't everyones cup of tea! LOL

Did find this drawing I did though (not a very good one, I admit):

And I've done the artwork and the design for logos (these are two I could find):

Anyway, if I find some time this weekend, I'll get some of my ideas down on paper. :)

Jennie I like your photos. Actually I am jealous and almost can't comment cause I can't do it like I used to and well, that just bugs me

Your fine as far as I'm concerned and your suggestion/samples are welcome just as much as any one else's. We have only just started to get this off and running and all ideas are welcome.

Hi groupies, here's what I was thinking and quickly put together. This is just an example and may be too simplistic, but if enough people like it... then less work for me :D

I agree that the new logo should be in color and fairly simple...I DON'T think a picture would work well.

I like that one but frankly Donny I like the old one better. I also don't think we should be hell bent on throwing out the old one if one that the club thinks is better can't be found.

This is kinda what i was thinking for the logo. Of course the live stock could be dropped off so that it would make printing easier (for example embroidery on clothes). I love the clean simple look this has.

I will take any feedback you have, good and bad. I don't offend easily. :)

If something better can't be agreed by all this does not mean we have to change anything. The old Logo can be used and different hats, Shirts and such could be changed at will for sale purposes if they are not popular. These are Ideas nothing written in stone and if all are against this then we can leave it alone, But i do think most would prefer something newer looking and more eve catching JMO

I like the simplicity of Donny's.

Cloud's is cool too - maybe move the middle TN reef club verbiage down, as going over the line makes it a bit hard to read.

I agree, i thought the same thing. But i thought i was being to critical. Here it is again with the Tenn stars moved up so the wording is easier to read. Also in black background for comparison.

I agree Chris, the simpler the better. That's a huge understatement. Especially if you want the website and everything else to look professional.

I really do like the old logo and its tie with TN. I agree that we shouldn't throw it out. So, instead, here's my take on it and CloudIX's designs. I really would like to have as few colors as possible. It makes working with it so much easier.

For the website, the logo should have a transparent background and use css to handle the layering and/or background color. That way there is no problem with the amount of colors it uses. That also frees the website from having to be constrained to the logo's colors. and allows us to change the sites colors/layout with out having to redo a logo each time.

IMO we shouldn't limit the logo's design for the website (the amount of colors, ect), but design the website's look to compliment whatever logo we choose to go with.

If we plan on embroidering our logo on hat's and thing's then we would need to scale down the amount of colors we use. But that's really the only thing that i can think of that would demand this requirement. Plain old screen printing shirts can use as many colors as we want to use.

Just my 2 cent's... and that's about all its worth. :)

I never created the original logo, i have no idea who did that. i was just trying to create some avatars that we could all use to show the club we belong to on this site. That's why i did an original one and then redid it to look more modern.

I like that one.

FWIW I had a guy that worked for Sean at Ebay create the original logo.
