New Logo Thread

Well, this is a thread that I like to come back to. I have been knee deep building websites and switching jobs amongst other things, so I have not been on here in a while. I'll be glad to help out as well if it is needed. I have been using the heck out of my new Adobe CS5 programs, so I am always looking for a reason to create something. Let me know if there is anything I can do.

It just happened on a whim. Perusing craigslist and found a new job. Decide to make a switch. As for the logos, I like the way Donny's last logo looks. Simplified version of the old logo.

Well, here are my ideas. Please note that these are simple sketches, NOT finished logos. The finished logo would be in full color, not black and white. These are simply meant to throw ideas out there.

Due to Restraints of Implementing a New Logo on all the Places we would like to have them, Donny has Informed me we will be limited as to what he can do. If the one he came up with suits everyone's taste we may be able to go foward with that or this may be side tracked for the forseeable future. FYI

Maybe Donny can give some details, but I'm not following as to why there would be "restraints" on doing a new logo or why we're limited as to what Donny can do? I've designed (and programmed) plenty of web sites, done graphic design w/ Photoshop & Illustator etc. and I'm not sure what that means.

For what its worth, I could provide any new logo in whatever formats that are required, including .EPS, which is typically required by companies that produce T-shirts and such.

Sorry for the confusion Jennie. I believe there has been a miscommunication. There aren't any restraints in designing a new logo. We really aren't limited on anything except time for me personally.

I had the opportunity to work on the site a lot this weekend and have almost completed it with a logo in place. I based the site's design off of this new logo. Unfortunately, time is rare for me with school and other priorities, so I took the opportunity I had this weekend and basically finished up the site. I was becoming antsy waiting for a new logo, so I went ahead and made a quick one to put up on the site.

That being said, the new logo designed is not set in stone to be the club's new logo. I really love your ideas and the others contributed in this threads. They really are fantastic. However, I was kind of getting worried people were putting in a ton of time into making a new logo when the site was almost complete. I asked Bill to temporarily postpone this until we could get the site up and for everybody to see the new layout. From there, we could most definitely continue this thread if people don't like the new look. To be honest, I am not an IT or graphics guy. My field of work is in an entirely different ballpark. So I'm sure that a lot of you IT/design people can come up with some amazing work. I just really had to take the opportunity and finish everything this weekend.

Sorry for the confusion again. I really did not want people unknowingly wasting more time as I know it can be pretty valuable for some. Please give me until about next weekend to get the site up and running. We can most definitely continue these ideas later. If anything, new designs are always welcome for a wide range of things. Maybe we can start a t-shirt line with all of the designs created in this thread

It was my choice to take the time to do all those sketches - once I get to thinking on something that is creative, its sometimes hard to turn my brain off! LOL I had other ideas as well, but finally ran out of steam (luckily for you all). I would not have taken the time if I didn't want to do it - as I want to contribute to the club in some way.

PLEASE don't take this the wrong way, but I have offered my assistance several times (going back to the first meeting about the Jan Frag swap - I think it was Aug, at Jay's house?) in the area of art work, graphic design, photography, web design, web administration, computer skills, etc. and have basically been told politely "thanks for the offer, but..." or simply dismissed. Maybe its because I'm a girl?!? Or I haven't been in the club that long? Or I have HA that I can't get rid of? LOL

Anyway, I'm offering to help wherever my abilities could be utilized by the club.

Jennie, That would be the BOD's fault as we charged Donny to do this project and I'm the kind of person that takes a job assigns it and lets that person roll with the action he deems fit for that project. I may have misunderstood what he meant as far as limited to what was possible at this time but your help will be accepted the same as any body's else's when the time comes for more to be done on this project. We after all will be talking about this very topic at the meeting Sat. I look foward to hear more about your Ideas then, But you must remember I know the least about all this process than anyone so be patience with me...

I agree Chris, the simpler the better. That's a huge understatement. Especially if you want the website and everything else to look professional.

I really do like the old logo and its tie with TN. I agree that we shouldn't throw it out. So, instead, here's my take on it and CloudIX's designs. I really would like to have as few colors as possible. It makes working with it so much easier.

OK, As far as I can tell this will be the New MTRC Logo for the time being! Not set in stone but we have to keep moving and get things done IMO. This will satisfy even the Critics that were against changing the Logo at all. The current Logo will Be Archived so that Future BOD's can make changes as they see fit. But for now this is what we will go with, Hope all can agree this will work for now at least.

Brett, No one said anything about anything other than the Website that Donny has spent all the time he has at the Moment on and I made the Decision to proceed as above. This is what the BOD does if your not familiar with how it works or do not like my decisions you may vote for another person next year. In the Meantime i will continue to do as I see best for the time people have to donate to a cause they get no thanks for just complaints. Really how about thanks for all he has already done instead of just more griping for a change. Case Closed for the time being, Any other comments can be made at the Meeting on Sat.

You are right. I'm not familiar with how it works. That is what I'm trying to understand. Prior to your election you stated multiple times that decisions would not be made in a vacuum.

Really how about thanks for all he has already done instead of just more griping for a change.

I'm sure the new web site is great and I will give much kudos once I have seen it (assuming that is what you are referring to here).

You keep alluding to all these great things the BOD is working on but at the same time will not reveal what they are (or I'm not aware of them). I'm not a thankless person but I just don't have enough information to deal them out -

I never made such a statement, as these changes will come at a price because no matter what you do you can not make every one happy!!! But I will at least do what i think along with my fellow BOD members to get this club moving foward not just ****ing up a rope for another year. I have tons of more Important things on my mind at this time and as far as I'm concerned this matter closed for now.
I have more Important matters at hand and feel that what little time i have will be spent being productive, Even if all do not agree at least we are doing what we think is best and That's our jobs at this point in time as board members.

Okay - I'll go back into the shadows for a few more years. Thought I would try to get more involved in the club this year but it is obvious I'm not going to "click" with the inner group.

I don't really see much of a vacuum. Donny is donating his time and the logo he created is the easiest for him to use - he stated this. Everyone has clearly stated (not behind closed doors) that the matter may be reopened in the future.

How much more open can you get?

It seems nobody can really say much or make a decision without burning someone's feelers off. Good grief, it's a freaking logo for a fish club, and frankly, Donny's looks better than what the previous logo could ever think of looking. Bill is doing the best he can during a tough time.

Time to move on. Launch the site.
