New LTA

I've been looking for a few weeks for a healthy M. Doreensis in anticipation of the lights for my tank. I got the Nova 4x39watt T-5 setup its over a 30 gal breeder connected into a large sump and other tanks for over 300 gals.

I've owned an LTA previously which unfortunately I believe succumbed to disease brought in by another LTA which I didnt QT. :(

Anyway here's my question how does the LTA settle into a spot where its comfortable? With my last one I managed to coral it with a few pieces of LR rubble. I'm just wondering if there's a better way. I dont have alot of flow in this tank, but it should be enough. So far I've tried the LR rubble and a piece of PVC in the SB. For now I let the flow blow it into a spot that seems adequate which is against a piece of LR. I'd rather see it in the middle of the SB. Just not sure how to get it to stay there.

Are LTA's mobil enough to get out onto the SB if it wants to or will it be forever at the mercy of the flow?

Any idea of their behavior in the wild? Like how do they get to where they want to be, and then stay there even with current trying to move them? Do they naturally settle into the lowest flow areas?

Aside from the return pump which is only pushing about 100-200 GPH (guesstimate), there's a rio 600 in there. How low of flow do LTA's prefer, should I go with a smaller pump, or maybe one of those Zoo-Med Powersweeps for more random rather than laminar flow?

Anyone care to provide details about the environment they're keeping an M. Doreensis in, how long you've had it, and how large is it?

I have had mine for only about 5 months, in a 4" sand bed with rocks buried to the bottom (90 gal tank) It seems to be very happy in moderate to light flow. The thing is about 18" from side to side. I hear they can grow to 20". If you have it in a 30 gal that is probably ALL you will have in there. I've read they can live for many many years ( we are talking decades).

It's been in the tank since Monday night, so far it seems to be doing well. It's eating a couple raw shrimp pieces every night. The first two nights it moved around, but last night it stayed put. :) Any thoughts of how long I should wait before introducing my pair of Clarkii's? The Clarkiis are less than 2 inches each, the anemone isnt fully expanded yet and is about 3 - 4 inches across. Do you think the Clarkii's would help or hinder it? Would their hosting help make it feel more comfortable?

Nems can move pretty well.
Put it where you want it or think is best, but it will move towards light or flow if it needs it.
If it does'nt move it's probably good.
My opinion is that clowns and nems seem happiest and healthy
when together.
My clowns bring food to their nem spot feeding it for me
Your clarks are going to love it!
