New Members and Introductions

Alethe,
Glad to have you aboard. And it is nice to see another Cichlid fan. I have had my FW tank for nearly 20 years. The current residents are lakes Malawi natives.
Anyway, I am looking forward to meeting you.

Welcome, I too have been into Cichlid's since I was a kid, which means a long time. I have a 60g at work with South American and Bichars.

Hello everyone,

My name is Ryan i just rescently dicovered NVR but unfortunatly much to late for the april meeting.
I have a 65g mixed reef(becoming more sps with every trip to the LFS) and a 24g nano cube with lighting retro kit. trying to think of a way to fit another tank in my appt. all the time. been in the hobby for several years now sps within the last 2 all my tanks start with captive frags(doing my part for conservation) :) and always looking for fellow addicts (JK.). to talk to about the hobby.

OMG! Cool another reefer club! Stockton is a black hole and figured that I would have to attend a MARS meeting to get my fix.
I had various FW as a kid. awhile back I got back into FW and currently have a 29g planted mostly South American tank and a 5g planted with a Crowntail Betta and a couple African Dwarf Frogs.
I am currently a member of SAS and enjoy that club very much (drive sucks)

I took some of the money that Uncle Bush gave me and started a 20T salt tank. About 25lb sand/crushed coral and 23lb of live rock (thats finally getting some coraline algae). Equipment is 2 koralia nanos, a 65W PC (really want to upgrade to a 150W MH) and a rio skimmer. Oh, I also drilled a bunch of holes into a old breeder box for a sort of in tank mini-fuge.
My tank is drilled for a sump but not ready for that yet. After all, Murphy has my number and a grudge. I also scratched it so think it would be better served as a sump ('common, we all start small then always 'gotta get a bigger tank to house all this stuff').
I would really prefer a HOB 'fuge sort of like the CPR Aquafuge. Been thinking of getting that bak pak clone w/ fuge from aquatraders or ask if John at Twins can get one.

Oh yea the important stuff, livestock:
Sixline Wrasse
Purple Firefish
3 blue leg hermits
7? asteria (sp?) snails
3 snails (forget name but the sand sifters)

corals:
Kenya Tree
pom pom xenia (still a bit ****ed from the frag and move)
purplish zoa
and another that I forget the name but looks like a clove polyps.
the last 2 I got from Kalypso so gotta ask Elliot to verify next time I go.

welcome to the forum. Post your tank spec in a separate thread so everyone can see.

I have a 20g tall also. I drilled it and have a 10g as a sump. I'm running a sunpod 150w halide over mine.

Whacked - welcome to NVR. A handful of us used to be MARS members but the drive to Orangevale was just getting to be too much, that's about the time NVR was born.

The club is sort of in summer hibernation right now but there are some events coming up soon :) If you registered on our website you'll get email notices (the next one to be sent soon).

Whacked...
Welcome to the club.
I have had FW for years and SW now about one and a half. I really love and enjoy the reef and all the colorful stuff. Keep us posted.

Hey everyone...can't remember if I ever said hello or not on this thread, so if I did, hello again! If not, hello for the first time:)

Name's Brian, live in Modesto with a 75g reef-in-the-making. Currently have around 50-60lbs of base rock, 20lbs of live rock, running since May 1, 2008. Have a small CUC of around 7-8 blue mermits, 2 em. crabs, one blackish/brown hitchiker mithrax crab I see every once and a while, 5 trochus snails, a few nassarius snails and 3 margarita snails (mistake to buy, I know they are colder water snails but learned AFTER the fact).

I spend most of my time on Talkingreef.com, love the community there but am definitely lacking in the local contacts, so here looking to be a part of something more social :) Want to make it out to a few events and will hopefully not be the only newb!

Brian,

Welcome to RC and NVR.

Make a seperate thread and post pic and spec. Would love to see your tank.
