Those look EXTREMELY fresh cut and a very recent glue job, and the third picture looks like it is dying. Do not want to rain on your parade, but IMO people should not be selling fresh cut frags, especially if they do not look healthy.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah they definitely were a little rough, but all look much better today. The guy in the third pick is much more inflated today and each took a small NLS pellet that I set on them after the power head was off for a pit. I'm hoping they all make it.

Here's the difference between yesterday (arrival) and today. The color difference is mainly due to different cameras yesterday I had the DSLR, I just snapped these from today with my droid, so don't put too much stock into the color change. Most of the change is in the tissue inflation.

Yeah they definately look much better on day 2 continue to feed them and they should come around. I love my acans and feed them all the time. I had one from one single polyp that is about 20 polyps now. About 1.5 years of feeding a couple times a week.

What is your lighting?

Those aren't just chop shopped frags, but the last one in each series was way unhealthy before they even packed it up and shipped it. Since there's only one tool in the hobby who would ever sell frags that looked like that and be able to sleep at night let me guess, mr coral?

definitely look the handy work of mr coral. I got a bunch from him and they looked just like that. I would put them in a calm area with some shading from the light. They will come around but its going to take time.

i cant believe that someone would sell such fresh cut corals . they should be put in very low light and low flow areas so they can get aquainted with your water paramiters ,then slowly bring them out into the light .
they definatly look quite stressed to me .

I have two sets on the tank right now, one is a 18 watt T5, one 10k bulb, one actinic. The other is the Marineland Reef Capable LED 18 inch fixture. But I haven't turned the LED's on except for the Moon lights for an hour or so at night.

I also have a power head and a HOB filter but the powerhead was definitley putting out too much flow so I turned it off and I just have the HOB with some floss in it creating flow.

I guess I didn't know he had such a reputation. This is my first time ordering corals online... you guys consider these in bad shape? So far they seem to be doing all right...

Any other tips or pointers on getting these guys into top shape would be appreciated.

I would definitely put them in an area of the tank where the lighting isnt as strong, the current is not so strong and try feeding them. I feed all of my acans pellets and mysis 1 to 2 a week. I did order a bunch of acan frags from him because I want to start an acan garden in my tank. They all looked like yours and have improved slowly. I've had them about 4 months now and while they havent started to sprout new heads, they are full and look healthy.

I did actually feed each one Wednesday. They each took a few pellets. I'll probably feed again tonight and follow with a W/C. Thanks for the tips.

Wow I am glad I saw this thread, I was considering ordering some stuff from mr coral

The bulk of my order was Zoanthids which, I should say were in good condition. I should also mention that all of the frags I purchased were from the 10$ frag section - which is probably why these pieces are so small. Ordering from the WYSIWYG section would probably be less risky, but more expensive.

I am going to have to jump in here in defense of Mr. Coral. I have ordered from him on several occasions and have only received top quality frags for excellent prices. Recently I ordered two acans along with several Zoas. The acans looked beautiful upon arrival and continue to thrive.

I am not going to doubt that with the high volume of orders that Mr. Coral fills, there are bound to be some mishaps. However, there are many customers, including myself, that have been highly satisfied for years.

I ordered a LOT of frags from mr. coral. They're cheap, they're fresh cut. out of 15 frags I lost 2 (purple zoanthid and a blasto I really really tried to bring back, but it just didn't make it)

I will order from him again, I am just aware of what I am getting, and know that they're delicate and fresh.

Mishaps? This guy runs a chop shop and doesn't give a flying fudge about the health of the corals, how do you think it was so easy to spot these frags as being his? There's literally no one else you could buy unhealthier frags from. He's a glaring example of everything that's wrong with the hobby, people tricked into unhealthy corals and the 30-80% mortality rate he has because "they were only $xx.xx".

This is a hobby about keeping things healthy and alive, if you're willing to risk things dying because if they're fresh cut but cheap it's ok then you're in the wrong hobby. These aren't cheap electronics where it's ok to toss them in the trash if they were cheap but didn't work, they deserve a lot more respect than that. Supporting people willing to kill corals for money is nonsense, they didn't get flown halfway across the world to die in some clown's bandsaw so that you could save some money. If ASPCA laws applied to aquariums he'd be one of the first shops closed, and if he were doing to animals what he's doing to corals he'd be in jail.

Search around, for every satisfied customer there's about a half dozen that got conned right out of their money. You also can't type his website on rc without it coming up as ********, which is a big red scammer flag since rc doesn't hand those name bans out very often.

btw, none if this is directed at Rush, unfortunately most people don't know what mr coral is about until he's already got their money. Good thing you didn't have any issues (which is very surprising) or you'd be another drop in the bucket of people who got scammed.

I wouldn't call it a complete scam.. people just have to research who they are buying from, as they should with every interenet purchase. I can also say that Pacific East has apistasias, and they are where I got my bryopsis from. Does that mean I should blast them away for poor husbandry? ...no. People just have to know what to look out for, and what they are getting.
