New Nem

Bought this nem as sold as a sebae, bleached but very sticky, been in the tank a little over a week now, good news is that it has stayed in the same place as i first placed it, and has had 3 feeding of large krill since first introduction, haven't seen it deflate in that time even after feeding, i know bta's deflate, do sebaes?
hopefully over the coming weeks it will colour up. so over the next few weeks i will take a photo to see the changes, i'm sure it has started to brown a little.
Also a week has passed and my maldive clowns have found it, only the female will go into it as she is a bully to the male at the moment, hopefully they will pair up.

Nice looking H. crispa. Yes bleached, but fortunately regaining its zooxanthellae. Since it's staying in one place and coloring up, the is reason to be hopeful it will make a full recoverly. I think all anemones can deflate, but the fact yours isn't is a good sign. My recommendation would be to go lightly on the feeding, small amounts a couple of times per week--fresh shrimp from the grocery, PE mysis, krill is fine, small pieces of fresh trout is good. I'd only feed pea size pieces for the time being, if I were you.

Great looking anemone, however I don't believe your clown is any of the species found in the Maldives. Looks to be Amphiprion frenatus which tend to look superficially to A. nigripes, which is commonly referred to as the Maldive anemonefish despite other species being found there. The dead giveaway to nigripes clowns are their black pelvic fins which is responsible for their other common name, the blackfoot anemonefish.

Thanks for the responses, winwood i agree with you on the clownfish, lfs had them labelled up wrong but i'm not complaining as they were cheaper than tomato clowns lol

Looks great! There is a big difference between being mostly bleached and totally bleached. In this case, you can still see a little zooxanthellae - so as long as conditions are good recovery time may be relatively short - like a month or two. I look forward to more pics!

Very nice!! To me it looks to be gaining color and getting larger.. What size is the H. Crispa? It appears to be pretty big!

Looking good. Definitely coloring up nicely. They tend to color up quickly with the right lighting and a little food.

It has colored up beautifully. Looks so healthy. What type of lighting doyou have it under? Also, is the anemone attached to a rock or is it attached through the sand to the bottom of your tank? It seems a lot of crispas prefer the rocks from what I can tell. Also, I'm curious how much, often and what type of food you've been feeding it.

I'm currently doing a rescue with a crispa that was also quite bleached. It has been coloring up and remaining stationary, attached to a hole in a rock similar to the way one would expect a BTA to attach.

Good job :) And people ask how you can tell when an anemone has been bleached... it's pretty obvious isn't it? :)

Gary it's attached itself to some live rock rock but not in a hole like most bta's do.
it's under a 150w halide, started feeding it about 2-3 times a week with some krill to start with, but it was also taking mysis when i fed the tank.
now i feed it directly once a week with a large krill but it's still taking the mysis i put in, much to the dismay of the female clown when it balls up lol
