New RBTA from cmas swap.

Anemones for life
How healthy does it look?

i decided to start off with an RBTA instead of a carpet after my last incident...

i was worried when i first purchased him cuz i bought it at the beginning of the cmas swap, it sat in the bag from 12:30 till about 6:45 =/

the second i put the bag in the water it started opening up, getting all good looking,
let the bag reach tank temp, took bout 20 minutes
from there, i drip acclamated it for about 35-45 minutes.. in a tuppawear container.. kinda distant from my lights..

it reacted amazingly, happy, no gaping mouth (idk if rbta's get gaping mouths like carpets do? im still new to the anemone's )
ill probably get someone to tell me this is wrong, but i put this small guy in my 24g tank instead of my 75g, cuz i feel my LeD's is better lighting then my t5 setup on my 75g

but ya.. here's some pics

foot looks healthy, mouth is closed tightly, i dont see anything abnormal

kinda a top view..

hows he lookin? been in the tank 2 days so far, i think he pretty much claimed that spot his home for now.. put him in he moved there immediatly that night, and snuggled in.. im thinkin he'll move though when he gets bigger but who knows

just wanted to know how he lookss, healthy wise :) and for only $30 bucks i couldnt pass it up. almost bought two :)

Very cool! Looks really healthy. FYI, yes, BTAs do gape like carpets, so a closed mouth is still a good indicator. And the minimum tank size for a BTA is 20 gallons so you should be ok with 24.

One poor Reefer is all i remember on the table banner haha,
across from those amazingly gorgeous clowns :) and behind Bill's LeD stand

Ours did great during acclimation and even in the tank its looking good it just hasnt found a spot it likes. Suliaman had a few in different sizes and since we got there from the start we asked him to save us a nice small one. We also bought a green one from jims reef for our other tank and that one is doing great. The green one was a last minute buy, we were already in the car about to leave when we said what the heck lets see if he will go lower on it since they were already packing up and we got it for $15. Its not very big but its nice.

aw let me see a pic of your green one, i didnt see it, if i woulda saw it i woulda picked that one up too

Very nice, for 15 bucks cant beat it :)

im just happy i found mine for 30, i been to a few stores where they were selling the same size as mine for 129-149.99 ...in that range
so i came out super happy :)

im happy i bought mine when i did, because right after i bought it, as he was bagging it up.. someone walked up, and said (as if he had already eyeballs em) hrm only 4 left? .. k ill take all your RBTA's.. but 1 was stuck to the egg crate and when i checked back later there were 2 left, so idk if they restocked from somewere else or he didnt buy em all, but either way :) im happy.

now i just gotta get it to host my clowns, Black Ocellaris, i heard Marooons were the easiest for a RBTA though so i mid be in the hunt for some

i got two, 1 24g and the other is a 75g,

but i got it in the 24g cause i feel the LeD setup on my 24g supports it better then the t5 setup on my 75g and my 24g is well more established going on almost a year as the 75g is only 4 months or so

It looks great in the 24g, I would definately avoid putting him in the 75 if it is only 4 months old. What are yoru plans for feeding????

That was going to be my next question,
is rod's food fine? ... or do these things require special food?
i had rod's food and Oyster feast..
if i need something that is better suited for a RBTA and gives it healthier, better growth then rod's i will definantly be buying it

when i fed my fish today it definantly grabbed a decent amount of the rod's and seemed to enjoy it

Rods is perfect if its the right blend, Rods has many lines of food. IMO it doesnt get much better than a small chunk of silverside. I had several anemones that all thrived on silversides. Carpet, Bta, Lta.
