New ritteri

its only 4-6". wanted a small one seem to do better
do they grow fast. fed it today so far has not deflated

YES they do... HAHAHA...

I just cut back my feeding schedule from once every three days to once every 6 days...

I feed the ritteri about the size of two peas worth of stuff. The rbta and disendris the size of one pea, and the large brittle stars the size of one pea. I usually feed all thesame on the same day. I switch up between (RAW) scallop, shrimp, squid, and flounder. I get some other stuff sometimes when at the store, but never any beef, pork, chicken, and I have not done any hard shellfish yet.

Off all the food I just pre cut it up into large (2 pea) and small (1 pea) sizes and I take out the frozen chunks. Since I froze them in a large ziplock, spread out, it is not one big glob. I pull out what I need and thaw it the same time I do the regular fish food.

I always feed the other fish first, other wise the clowns will 'taste' the scallops and run off with them. They have a rich pallet.

lol i feed raw shrimp pieces tuna salmon and mahi mahi just switch each time i feed about the same size you are feed it did finally poop today and looked just like the ones from my rose anems ----so maybe this one will keep going like it is ---have a chance to get a gig again but not sure i want to mix them and risk the tank

Hold off for a bit. Let things settle and calm down, before you get another one.

Maybe by then you will be ready to upgrade and make a single occupant in a new tank. OK maybe with a few friends in there with it.

Ya know.. In this hobby there are so many people that are scared off by the "work" that is needed.

My friends and co-workers are like... "That is too much work..."

Ya know what... I do not think it is and I actually find it enjoyable and relaxing. I have not watched TV in over 3 weeks, I have gotten yard work done, house work done, laundry (single dad), still go to work every day, and most of all find time for my self to just relax. Even if it is a cold drink/glass in front of the tank.

have to have a hobby or the stress will kill ya ----trust me i know ---coming up on 4 years now after a major heart attack ---so i really enjoy my tank ---if other things get done ok if not its not a big deal as long as the tank looks good lol -- im lucky i have a wife that understand !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah I am luck I have kids that understand to just let me be, down stairs by the tank in the coming along FISH ROOM...

:)

thats nice i had a fish room for awhile but got way out of control 65 tanks was not relaxing at all now with the one tank alot easier and more relaxing just needs to be bigger

Go look at my build in large tank section. You will see a walk around video of the room, still not finished though. LOL

Well at day 10 now deflated a bit yesterday and pooped but looks great today and feed him a small piece of shrimp it could not eat it fast enough

Sounds much better...

Mine did it a lot the first week. Then about once a week for about 3 weeks. Then every other week for about 3 months. But It is possible it did it more and I was just not around.

Now it only does it when it has eaten a big mean and is done, and pooping.

Worried for nothing super inflated this morning

Does anyones do this after a water change. Just wondering. I did 15 gallons on friday

Check your parameters before you do your next water change.

ALL of them on both tank and water change water. Check all the levels on both. Calcium and everything.

I bet something is off. It likes the new water chemestry. Maybe it wants you to replace the water more often.

I do a 30g water change on fri or saturday. My water volume is about 180 total minus the LR and all that is in the 180DT + 40sump.

i do 15 gallons on fridays all mixed the same before hand
mine is 80 gallon with 40 gallon sump
its happy today. might still be acclimating
only day 11

True. I just took some new pictures last night. Go look at my thread in large tank section and see the ritteri pics.

Just keep an eye out for the daily afternoon/evening deflation - it is not normal and a bad sign IMO. Mine started doing this a few days after I got him and each deflation cycle looked slightly worse than the prior one to the point wher he looked one day like a flat pancake and I figured he was a goner if I didn't do something.

Thanks ill keep an eye on it has looked good all day today even bigger then normal but still way to early in the game to relax mouth is nice and tight still
