New seaahorses pics

I bought these pair of beautiful seahorses from vipjd39
last Saturday and so far they are doing good and eating frozen mysis like a pig. The yellow seahorse likes to hitch to a gorgonia but the darker seahorse likes to float I do not know why, the other time he will go to a gorgonia is at night for sleeping.

Nice shots of the seahorses - they look very cool. The tank shots are nice also, a full and healthy looking setup!
 
Love the pics! Glad you are enjoying our babies! Very beautiful tank.

However, clams are NOT seahorse safe. The can and will eventually clamp down on the seahorse or its tail if the horse decides to land on the clam and possibly kill the horse. There is a seahorse tankmate guide that is very helpful here is the link

I dont know where you read that information but i just thought i'd let you know it doesnt matter what species of seahorse you have it is not ever safe to have a clam and seahorse in the same tank. I just wanted to save you some heartache... if the clams were safe with the horses they wouldnt be posted as unsafe on many other forums. I've read several places that these animals should never be in the same tank. I'll be completely honest, i wouldnt have sold you the horses had I known you were planning to keep them with clams. I wish you the best. Please dont take this as me being rude, im just trying to inform you of the risks.

Thanks for your intrest and honesty, I have read many times that seahorses arn't safe with corals and clams and I am a positive example that isn't true, I have a seahorse in another tank with all kind of corals and clams and he never got stung nor hurt by a clam ever he is huge and thriving I had him in that tank for about 4 years. Sure clam CAN clamp down and hurt them but the clams arn't that fast anyway. I am not a newbie nor an idiot I love animals and will never try to hurt them or put them in harm's way. Sorry you feel that way about selling them to me but you do not have to worry anymore because next time my purchase will not be from you anyway.
It is funny that people are worried about clams and corals with sehorses but they still use them to gain income .
 
A lot of people have success doing things that are exceptions to the rules... Many reef inhabitants that have adverse affects in one case are fine in others... Each individual must be weighed on a case by case basis...

ProudMom has a gorgeous looking nano, and I think that her knowledge is evident and proven in its appearance...

I don't think vipjd39 was out of line in his comments either... It is important to pass on information that is the "general rule of thumb"...

While ProudMom may bot be a "newbie", many who are in this forum are and it is necessary for them to understand the risks associated with keeping two things which might not work out together...

When I reply to a thread I am usually talking to the entire club as well as the original poster... Please keep such things in mind as there is always something new to learn... :)

Firstly, yes, clams are exactly that fast. Just because you haven't seen your clams snap down on your seahorses doesn't mean that you have somehow managed to get two seahorse-safe clams.

Secondly, no offense, but I think you're a bit out of line making the comment about them using seahorses to gain income.

I am not trying to come down on you, but I think that Nikki meant her comment in the sincerest way because she cares about her seahorses and would want them to go to the best home possible. She was just trying to inform you of the potential problems that these little guys might encounter.

I hope you don't take what I'm saying poorly but I felt that it needed to be said.
