how big is he? and how big was he when you got him?
I never measured the ray when I first got it. Looking at the picture above, I would guess that it is 15" in length. I would guess that it has grown a couple of inches in the year that I had had it.

u did not see a bluespot ray in jamaica dude the tank looks great the shark was fine ita a cat shark not a black tip lemon or othe thats need sbig space

im sorry but he did the right thing on getting rid of the shark, from someone that has quite a bit of experience you should know that, a shark of that size should be in a much larger aquarium then what he had it in, not to mention a lack of rock work for hiding and such, lets put you in a 6x6 room for the rest of your life and just throw food in once a day and see if you like it

Hey Chuck, great work on the transfer. Will the LFS sell it or keep it on display?
I'm pretty sure it will be kept for display. They are planning on adding a few rays to the pool also. I should have taken a picture of the front of the store as the pool is the first thing you see when you walk into their store. I suggested that they should run a "name the shark" promo in the store and give away a gift certificate to the winner. I think the pool will make a nice home for him...

The replacement shark arrived this morning. Here are a couple of early pictures.

What kind of shark is that? I hope you don't get too attached to sharks if you continue trading them in ;)
It is a Wabbegong from Austrailia. (Orectolobus sp.) I have the same problem with cars...I like to trade for something different... At least with a car I don't do it every year. I had to run over to the LFS to check on my old shark today. Seems it has found a new home in one of the milk crates supporting the tub in the center of the tank which will some be a refugium when the light is operational.

A few photos of the new shark taken shortly after he was placed in the tank. Not all of the lights were on, so the quality isn't the best.

Let's hope that's not one of the Wobbies that reach 10' :D

Nice shark.
Thank you, He will be looking for a new home at the 2 foot mark. Scott Michael's Shark & Rays says that they are one of the slower growing sharks if not over fed.....
