new St. Thomas mushroom tank addition

That's a nice one Mig. Got pics under all white lights?

That's under 50/50 T5 with some blue LED accent strip, the background color came out a little weird from the container being so white but it's actually pretty white light. I took a pic with my regular LED's on and it looked fake so I had to break out the T5's lol.

I'll see if the T5 will work with only the white bulbs in, if it does I'll post up a super washed out pic for reference.

Cool thanks bud.

I'll probably try my hands on one of StM when I'm done moving my tank in the condo. Don't want to buy new coral or fish to have it croak after the tank breakdown and move.

Very nice shroom. Do you mind sharing how much you pay for it? My LFS has one but they are asking 200 dollars. IDK if I should pull the trigger.

Seems expensive but the reality is they aren't popping up in the market all of the time, if it's worth it to you then it's fair. Just my opinion though.

I paid less... If it's worth it to you then it's worth it, but personally I vote with my wallet when it comes to vendors who let the people who are willing to be overcharged for stuff make corals untouchable for the rest of us. I'm of the opinion that vendors should charge a price based on what they paid, not based on the highest price they think they can get from their most well-to-do customers. Just my 2 cents.

They aren't popping up all the time because hobbyist vendors are hoarding and fragging them to sell for the same super-marked-up prices. There's more than you'd think out there, which reminds me it pays to use your imagination with vendors selling them that have subpar pics, great way to strike gold.

yea I know thats why I didnt want to buy it. Dlnt get me wrong the shroom is very nice, its yellow, red, and green. The max that I would be willing to pay was half of what my LFS was asking. I think Ill just wait and see if they are willing to drop the price.

Yes I tried to buy one on ebay recently but got out bid in the last few seconds. It went for $120.50. If the guy who sold it would have used the picture in this thread he probably would have gotten much more. These things look incredible under actinics and are impossible to find online. I bought a mini red carpet from him last year. I hope he is propagating these shrooms also.

Here's a small one that was growing on the backside of the shell the one in the pic came attached to, so much eye candy! I want to make these my sandbed...

Do you have an update on this do you still have it?

Love these mushrooms, guy I worked for used to import them quite regularly but hasn't been able to get them for a couple of years and I haven't seen one myself like yours in this post for 3 years or more.

No I lost all of my St Thomas when I moved during the hottest day of socal summer last year. Everything was 90 degrees by the time I got it into the tank, St Thomas were gone in a couple days :/

I guess this means I have to get more now :D

:/ I'm sorry to hear that.

Yeah I used to find some orange and green ones with white tips pretty regularly for around $80. Now I can't even find those. I saw some red ones at ReefApalooza this weekend but everyone was asking $300... or $150 for the normal green ones. I thought they were a lot when they were $80, now I wish I had bought all of them I'll probably never afford one now :headwally:
