New store in Greystone (Shelby Co.)?

I stumbled upon the site below that says there is a saltwater store in Greystone on HWY 280. Has anyone heard of it or been there? It's only about 15 minutes from my house, but I've had a full calendar and couldn't get by today to check it out. I plan on going by Tuesday at the latest. I'll report back in case anyone else is interested.

I saw that site last week. I called them and they are still setting up but do have some stuff in there ready. Very nice guy. Was hoping to get by this weekend, but life happened. If you go, post about it please.

I finally got around to visiting this store today on my lunch break. It's still in the works, but they are open for business and have some nice things to see. It's not a very large store, but they're managing to squeeze a lot in the space. They have LOTS of clownfish--if captive-bred clownfish is your thing, go there now and take a few off their hands! They had a nice tank set up with some gorgeous corals--not a whole lot of corals, but larger pieces than I've seen in other stores. They have several other tanks with the usual selection of fish--tangs, triggers, lionfish, cardinals, etc. They are still building their collection of live rock, but should have plenty to choose from before long. Another large section of tanks was empty. They said something kept tripping a breaker, so they have to wait until the eletrician comes next week before they can do anything with those. I'm anxious to see what they'll have next time.

This store has potential, and it's so close to where I live and work. I'll be visiting again.

Thanks for the info. I'll be needing 30-40 lbs of live rock soon as I've almost got all the pieces to set-up my 75 gal. My largest current tank, 38 gal, is mostly zoas and palys, with a few mushrooms. Did they have any of that type stuff?

Unfortunately, I'm completely new to corals and can't answer that for you. Sorry! I'm sure you could call and ask if it's too long a trip to swing by and check. I'm assuming their number is on their website.
But we're on a similar schedule--my 75 is coming in this week, so I'll be head there for live rock in the near future as well.

I think they have plenty of dry rock at the new store. Once they are completely up and running, it looks like it will be awesome.

Where is it at? Someone told me it was behind Lee Branch but my brother cant find it.

It's on the other side of 280 from Lee Branch, behind the 2-story building with Hometown Mortgage. It's a one-level strip, and the store is toward the far end. Look for the door with condensation on it ;)

I found it today. Its pretty tight quarters in there but is a cool little set up. It should be better stocked after they officially open. I was happy to see them stocking lots of dry good and seachem items. The guys seem very cool and hopefully birmingham will finally have a store with healthy livestock and decent prices.

It's the two guys who used to work at aquarium fantasies in homewood... They broke away and opened the shop in greystone. Really great guys, I hope it works well for them!

How many have been to the shop? I went twice during their grand opening. Walked away with corals both times. Unfortunately, haven't been able to go back since. Hopefully next weekend.

I went Friday , they had lots of good frags and some higher-end equipment. The place looked great, hope there's enough support to keep it open.

I've been in a few times. They were still setting up. Their prices are extremely high on lights and other things. Got some very nice and reasonably prices acans and zoos there. There is also a great store on Oxmoor Rd. In Homewood. aquarium Fantasies is the name. And they have an amazing store beside Eastdale Mall in Montgomery. Huge selection of every coral you can possibly imagine.

I have been there a couple of times. The owner is very helpful and the store is coming together nicely. I hope they keep on growing.

I believe they had some sps, but I'm still learning my corals so you should probably call to be sure before driving that far. Their prices seemed fair for the items I asked about.

I go there all the time! I am a local seahorse breeder who just moved down from Saint Louis and they are the only store I allow to sell my horses.

I don't recall seeing any seahorses for sale, just some pygmies in a small display tank. Maybe I missed them since I won't be able to keep any in the near future. Which kinds do you breed?
