This is how i'll set up my sump. There are no places to trap detritus. The water flows under the Cheato. Egg crate separates the Cheato section and the Return Section.

Is that a float valve for ATO in the return pump section?

Yes, i am doing gravity feed as ATO.

are you dumping water back into the cheato section? If so, why not dump it back into the skimmer section? this way, it gets skimmed again, and still goes through the cheato section.

Also, would it not be better to place the bubble trap directly in front of the return section, instead of immediately following the skimmer? Any micro bubbles created in the cheato section, does not have a bubble trap before being pumped to the DT.

Be careful with float valves for ATO, they've been know to fail and you don't want all that FW dumping into your sump

Maybe i'll have 2 float valve and one will be for back up.
