New Tank Build - 3'x3'x12" Frag Tank

Thanks. With the stain and poly it really came out nice. Currently half my tank is empty. Almost feels kind of wierd seeing a half empty tank.

Uh Jay - you will never get them back in your tank! that stuff was grown in there tight!

lets see pics of the prop tank!!!!!!!

I'm not adding anythign new but moving alot of my smaller pieces to my prop. My goal is to have nothing but HUGE colonies in my display plus a couple choice pieces. Once it is in my prop, then I'm gonna frag alot and then try to recoup some costs this hobby puts on us :)

I'll snap some prop tank pics here in a few.

Those corals are huge! Nice job on the prop tank. Look forward to seeing a before/ after of your display, and the prop tank when set up as well....

Sweet....are you going to be at the Feb meeting? I'm going to try, but I think I have my little girl that weekend.....

I don't know. I want to go to one but just haven't had the time to get out to one. I occasionally make trips to orlando and sell frags while I'm up there.

Hopefully I can get the green slimer out of the display today. You think those others are big? This thing is like 4 to 5 square feet of coral lol.

Davy from here had the materials and tools. I paid him more than he asked because we spent several hours on it but it was originally 125.00 for the material which was extra pieces.

Sorry for the lack of updates. I've been re-aquascaping and it is tough trying to get all the frags on plugs. That prop tank's calcium and alk dropped very fast. Calcium was down to 300 and alk to 6.

Many corals did not like the transition and have lost some color. However the ones I have moved back are already regaining alot of it back.

Yea i'd be curious as well to hear how many frag plugs, as well as what the total volume it is.... Try to calculate what is safe...

I didn't even have things plugged out I just had a few of the colonies and my big slimer colony.Let's just say that the tank was to the rim with coral. My big tank which stays steady at 8 alk and 420 calcium with my reactor shot up 450 calcium and 16 alk. I turned the reactor off for a day. I moved all my big colonies back except for the slimer/green cap and my pavona. I tested again yesterday and my main tank dropped down to 10 alk. I turned the reactor back on.

Another big shocker was magnesium. The prop was only 800 and mine was 1200. Took ALOT of magnesium to get that back up.

I know exactly what you are going through on the consumption of chemicals. I go through about two cups of calcium, magnesium, and sodium bicarb every week.
