Great job keeping the copperband long term. Props. Is that a regal angel? 2nd to last pic.

Ever try carbon dosing for the bioload?

How many watts in LEDs over the display?

Awesome display! Great fish selection!

Tank is looking amazing thought for sure when u said u were going to do leds on a mature tank u were in for trouble but it looks like after a year everything did great.

can you take a picture of your lighting I just changed y SE lumenarcs to 5 de hqi 250 watts but am getting the led bug after seeing your tank.

Amazing

One last question do u test phosphates? And if you do weres it usually at ?

I only test for alk and CA. I try to guess phosphate and nitrate based on the animal health, type and location of algae growth and observation of my sandbeds and general health of the system.

I had some issues with my DIY lights. I over drove my white lights at first. I did not like the color from the DIY lights but since adding the multi spec chinese lights I am very happy. I currently have several types of LEDS, halides, and t5's over this system and sumps. I like the Chinese lights best of all. Bet color mix by far of any single source lights that I have ever used. This is the Ebay PN from topledseller (281004271627). I would recommend them. I will post an image of the lights later.

Thanks. the secret to the Copperband is that I hand feed the fish every morning. Fresh squid or clam every day makes them fat and healthy.

Yes that is my Regal Angel. Tough to find a good healthy one at first but great fish after they acclimate. Much bolder than I thought she would be.

No I do not does carbon for long term nutrient reduction. Export via DSB, Macro harvest and Mangrove leaves soon.

hey dog boy dave im looking in to that same led my ? is my tank is 16'' from waterline to sandbed...now guessing from ur tank would the 90 degree optics be to ''disco or hotspot'' for lack of better words...?

I don't like optics on my LEDS. I find that penetration is fine without them and I like the wider spread. If I am using the factory lights which I highly recommend then I like the widest spread 60 degree that I can get.

u mean 120 iirc is no optics...? im asking cuz the unit im looking at from the pn on ebay from topledseller that u posted comes with 90 optics...and i would like to try the unit u recommended...

Dave, I know you mentioned going with little rock and building up with coral. How do you build up the coral on top of each other without the coral fighting? I'm in the planning stages of a 180g and would love to follow you game plan regarding aquascaping.

Also Is the DSB your main bio filter, since you have minimal live rock?

This tank deserves a big bravo! Truly amazing...

Mark...

It makes me feel better about having acrylic seeing a long term acrlic reef tank ... I have to seriously OCD out when I clean the tank to not scratch it I've been doing pretty good so far .. Do u have any secrets or tricks to not scratching up your tank? Thanks your tank is very inspiring

This has to be one of the most impressive set-ups I've ever seen. I think the thing that stands out the most about this is the patience and care involved with it.

One of the most inspiring tanks I've seen - excellent job!

Yes the TOPLEDSELLER LED that i linked did have optics. Yes I still love the lights and I will buy more. . I would rather they have a wider spread though.

Yea I have scratched it quite a bit. Trick is don't let anything build up and use fresh acrylic pads to clean it often. I have a lot of coraline algae and it is tough to get off.

Thank you. Honestly the images dont show the depth and colors very well. The tank and fish look so much better in person. My photo skills are not what they used to be. I have trouble seeing the camera controls any more so.... But thanks for looking.

SPS dont fight that much. They channel most of their aggression to growing fast and trying to shade out the other corals. If I see a piece growing over another piece or shading it too bad I just frag some of it and let the winner take the spot. Later on I will place a small rock in the branches of the other coral and let them go. I also have quite a bit of rock under the coral and in my other sumps. In the darker places I get very nice thick sponge and tube worm growth on the rocks which I recycle through my Angels. However, yes I think most of my nutrient export is through my skimmer and via the two DSB's.

U ever figure out a what was causing burnt tips years ago?? Your tank is my inspiration I'm going through that right now

Crummy video skills but nice subject matter i think
