Very nice Sang. What pump runs this bad boy? I have toyed around about this model as well, but I still can not make up my mind on my lighting. I guess I need to stay with my H&S at least until I have the tank up and running

I know its early to tell, but how do you like it compared to the H&S?
I would hate to dash teh H&S for the ATB, the H&S has always been great to me. It pulls some thick nasty crap!

Damn, this cold just sucks! I think it's too early to make a comparison to the H&S. To tell you the truth, my H&S rocks! I didn't get the skimmer because I needed more skimming power. I was just curious on the performance of the ATB. I woke up and took a few pics. Time to raise the water level as the skimmate is far too dry. As you can see, the entire chamber is full of "tiny bubbles" now. Don Ho would be proud.

Hey Lap,
Since I've owned a BM before, I feel qualified to say that there is no comparison. The ATB's construction is light years ahead of the BM's. As far as skimming goes, I have seen that the ATB can dry skim like the best of them. There is one issue on the ATB that I am not too keen on. You can take apart the skimmer in pieces, but to do this, ATB uses metal screws at the bottom of the plate. I'm sure these screws will rust in time. I don't think it's a big deal as my vortech uses metal screws, my eheim pump on the H&S uses metal washers, etc. Just something to be aware of.

I skim wet usually. The main reason I skim wet is because I hate cleaning the collection cup so often! I know that sounds counterintuitive but when you skim dry, the skimmer gets caked with sludge and reduces the skimmers performance. When you skim wet, the skimmer stays cleaner, longer.

Which skimmer do you run now? Have you decided yet on your upgrade? It sounds like you are torn between the ATB and the BK. Btw, I'm trying to make your decision tougher for you.

I just discovered something cool. Whenever I feed, my skimmers would shut down immediately. I fed yesterday and today, and just realized that the ATB's keep skimming. Very interesting.

I can do better than that! I use a home made mixture of mysid, squid, prawns, cyclopeeze, and octopus. I can already see a denser foam head forming. So, which skimmer is your frontrunner?
