New underwater Camera

thanks for the compliments. I've been taking pics for close to 3 weeks so any suggestions are appreciated.

Melev, I agree, I've contemplated using ridged air tubing as a monopod, but would like to get something telescoping.

I'm like others and have trouble getting the same colors I see to show up in the pics, especially blues.

Hands down this is the coolest camera I've ever owned. My daughter (1yr old) tried to carry it from the kitchen table and dropped it a couple times and I didn't even worry!

Can some of you take a few pictures from outside the tank as well? You're making me want to buy one!

Here are some taken today. . .

No I do not have 3 tangs in there, he is just dying for attention.

Thanks Marc. I guess I now owe you that seafood salad part of our deal? Is that how's it gonna be? Gonna play hardball with me? JK  and thanks again. :)

Stout: Some great pictures there. I think the colors look fine. But as for the blues: have you tried the flourescent bulb settings in the White Balance? The 2nd of those three looks best in my tank, but it would depend on what bulbs you're using.

Wow cool pics, Nice to see the thread alive again. Not sure if I posted a full out of tank shot I like this one but all my fish are hiding???

and Ive been using the image stabilization in macro mode it really helps with the blur

I've got the Olympus 770SW.

I've been struggling to get any decent shots at all with this camera. The only thing that I like is the led super macro mode.

About the only decent shot i've got is this one, and it's too blue.

What are your settings are you guys using for your full tank shots? What kind of lighting do you have?

memorisa, I could be wrong, but I don't think the 1030 has it. I fooled around with my father's 1030 last month and didn't see one on there...but I could be wrong. :)

You could check the Olympus website to find out.

just found the 1030's manometer today. i forgot where i found it but i know it has one and it is displaying on my screen. i will have to look again to turn it off, until i need it.

I bought this camera just for the kids and water parks. I posted some shots and someone linked me here. These are awesome shots. I had no idea this thing could do this. I am excited because I now know the full potential of this camera and I have not even come close to reaching it. I just got it today. I will take more photos and hopefully I can one day match these found on here!

downhillbiker, i must apologize too i have been MIA for awhile- too busy at work. for some reason, my subscription to this thread does not let me know of new posts.... hmmm...

anyhow, yes there is the manometer - should be there in camera settings menu (initial one) i am at work now , so would have to be at home to make sure where exactly it is

also i havent really gotten any awesome pics of my tank w. the camera yet, but i did get a nice shot of the sun under teh mediterranean:

hmmm cant see to be able to upload from work... hmmm

i dont know why necessarily but i really like the photos of the sun from underwater, i guess its b/c it reminds me of the times i was scubadiving.
i have em as my wp at work, helps soothe the mind at hard times.

also here are two of the better shots i got w/ 1030 of my tank, still battling algae issues, so not to eager to dive in there and mess around ---

you can also see the sally light there on the side of the rock too. (sadly i found him missing 3 pairs of legs a week later, hmm wonder who the leg hunter is? purple lobster?)

i've actually always thought the tentacles of my leather were tan, like the same color as the body. but since this picture i see more and more green there :D

i usually use the scan mode and go to the multi shot function that shows the woman's face. then i set it to super macro without LED, turn flash off, and get my arm down in the tank, and try to stabilize on a rock with my finger, then i focus and take a full set of multi shots, i think its 8 or something, then choose one i like. that pic was taken a while back, and i think now i can do better, with more practice. post the pics you get.
