New use for RO/DI waste...

... putting it underneath a small goalie and a figure skater.

I've been running my RO waste into my washing machine for the past few months, but I've just recently come up with this new use for it. I need to flood this 12x20 rink with 5 to 10 gallons of water after it's been used, so I just use the waste line for my RO to produce a couple of buckets.

I know that ice made with high TDS water isn't optimal... but these guys are pretty light on their skates.

An outdoor rink. Countless hours of real exercise, fresh air and actual interaction with others. Now thats old school fun. Great idea.

AND a fence behind it so that you don't have to go chasing after every puck that misses the net!

OH man, my worst semester of middle school was due to a home made outdoor rink. Ran home after school, dropped the books, grabbed the skates and stick, played all night.

Make sure the kids do their homework!

p.s. being from an all Itailian side of town, instead of a Zamboni, we had a Jabroni (my buddies dad with the hose, no RO)

Yup! When I was a kid we used a decorative fish net for a room (that was popular years ago) strung between two sticks.

That net was actually an awesome craigslist find. Poor guys wife was making him sell it and he was thrilled to know that kids were going to be using it. New ones are pretty expensive.

These guys don't lift the puck that far off of the ice, so none have actually made it over the fence (even with my inaccurate shot). But I have had to spend quite a bit of time digging for puck in the space between the rink and the fence.
