New version Odyssea M.H. lights ?

well, based on your post count, I don't think people here are smart ***, but I personally don't like when people that don't own the equipment have something to say about it, if you own it, then you're entitle to your opinion, if you don't... then just SHUT UP.

I mean; is like giving an opinion on a AMG Benz, some people say things about them and they don't even own a car. c'mon keep the constructive comments comming, but the product flamming, keep it to your self.

just my .02 cents

Is this a Chinese brand with good quality?

just with most Made in China stuff, it is ok, but it can be improved, but for the money, it is a good deal... and sometimes better than spending $1500 on a simmilar fixture made in Germany

I`m in the wrong hobby ? Guess I`ve been wasting time and money for the past 20 years .
I know the UL tag doesn`t mean crap , but it does to any insurance company , especially for previous history of problems . This is not the only reason . I`ve always be cautious about their lights and has kept me from buying them .
Doesn`t matter now anyway , I found a great deal for an Aqualight Pro and picking it up tuesday .
I came on here to ask people that HAVE them to chime in . Not to hear all the other smart a$$ crap . Which seems to happen a lot on RC .

Dawman:

A) Actually, I am pretty sure that everyone here who answered you does own this fixture...

B) Not sure wher this "UL Listed" rumor got started, but no insurance company can withold payment on a fire damage claim because an electrical device wasn't "UL Listed"... that is just silly.

C) Coralife Aqualight Pro and Odyssea fixtures are the same fixture, just assembled in 2 different plants - BOTH in China, BTW... so, in terms of 'quality' and / or 'safety', I would offer that the Coralife Aqualight Pro is NO better (or no worse) than Odyssea on either...

So you have taken apart the Odyssea and Coralife apart side by side to compare everything ? A friend has four of the new Odyssea pc lights and they are not the same as my Coralife pc , similar but not the same . Naturally they are made in China , most are .

The UL myth is no myth . My dad`s friend sells homeowners insurance and checked into it and called back and stated it is true . Some homemade diy light is covered but not one on the market to the public .

Doesn`t matter , I made up my mind .

that's just BS

my home owner insurance covers me, no mater if it is made in space...

when is the last time you ask, is this item UL or NAMA, or neither.

does it have an expired certification? do you know if they meet all the LAB requeriments before making this revision?

BS

and yes, the insurance will cover your DIY, as if you are an ELECTRICIAN, but the retail product made in CHINA, is strictly FORBIDEN!, well I guess for all of us, don't shop at:

WALMART
BEST BUY
FRY'S
LEVITZ
or any other place they sell CHINA made stuff, because your hous can BURN and the insurance will not cover you.

AAAAAHHHHHHHH!
I just noticed... my LOGITECH KEYBOARD G15 is not UL listed, call the FIRE DEPARTMENT

OMG!!!!!

i'm infested with no UL products :hmm1:

my Canon PowerShot Digital camera is not UL listed :hmm3:
my Logitech Keyboard G15 is not UL Listed :wildone:
my MAD DOG external DVD-RW is not UL listed :sad2:
my NORTEL Multi-Line Phone is not UL listed :thumbdown

OH! SALVATION...

I found one... my LOGITECH WIRELESS MOUSE is UL listed...

wait a minute, why do i want it UL?.,.. is wireless...

:uzi: damm it..., all my WIRED items are not UL, but the F&^%n mouse is :worried2::hmm4:

Not to be argumentative, bit several months ago - when this whole issue of "UL listing" first came up - I phoned my Allstate agent and asked if he had ever heard of such a thing as UL listing "required" before a claim can be paid out for fire damage, or any other damage claim for that matter. He said he personally had never heard of such a requirement (he has been selling ins. for more than 30 years) and if any insurer had such a policy, it would have to written into the contracts in order for it to ever be even remotely enforcable in the event of a claim...

Think about it. (God forbid) your $300K home burns to the ground. Insurance investigators narrow down the cause to a faulty piece of electrical equipment (in this case a light fixture)... you are doing your best to 'pick up the pieces' after the fire when your agent calls to tell you that you are NOT covered; you lost everything and have no check coming to rebuild and pay your remaining mortage with; all because of a missing UL listing...? Unless your specific policy specifically had a clause stating exactly that written into it - and signed off by you, the policyholder, waiving any right to claims...

It's just preposterous. In such a scenario the policyholder could easily sue the pants off of the insurance co. and win....

easily.
