New vid of my old reef..with the LEDs

I didn't pay $6000.00 for the lighting. If you wait until the vendor has a sale like a 10% memorial day sale the savings can be significant. I went through a LFS near my home that matched the on- line price.
It also takes the sting out if you calculate the payback time in electrical cost and bulb replacement.
I wouldn't expect one unit to light more than a 24 inch square area at sand level. So I would plan on at least 3 units. Of course the type of corals you keep and your aquascaping can effect what you need. You can always get two and then get more if you want to. Or when you have saved up some more reef spending money:lmao:

Right now I have a beautiful hawian Angelfish down in the basement because she started nipping my clams siphon. I don't know what I'm going to do with her yet.

I have three angels in my mixed reef. A Majestic, an Emperor and a Flame. All behave very well and have not once picked at any of my corals. I have heard however that Angels are fond of clams. If ever one started to pick at anything in my tank I would have to decide which is more important to me, that Angel or the coral/clam? I am biased however as my fish are my pride and joy before my corals.

I just removed a crocea from the tank because one of the wrasses was bothering it. I plan on reintroducing it in a few more weeks in a different location.
Removing the other clam is just not an option, it's just to big! I might reintroduce the angel fish, but I'm afraid I might have trouble catching her a second time if she starts nipping the clam again

Let me try that again

Thanks! It seems like last week my tank was TOTM. Time flies but I never seem to get bored with reefkeeping. Still so much I want to do.

3 things

1- crazy amazing tank

2- i think u broke the record for "the biggest clams in captiveity"

3- Have u entered tank of the month?

Amazing reef in a wonderful room!

I too often go back and find your TOTM just to check out the "reef in the conservatory".

Thanks so much for the update and video.

Please keep updating on the progress under LED's.

Cheers

I thought your system was awesome back when it got TOTM...now being even more mature it is just plain wicked!! I know this is a thread on your new LEDS (which by the way look awesome IMO) But I see in the video what appears to be a Tunze powerhead being rotated in one of the closeups of the middle section around the return. Am I correct in seeing that and what is this attached to if it is...A WavySea perhaps! Thanks for sharing!!

Yup, its a Wavysea only now they are called Moceans. I believe the company was bought out by Vertex. They have worked really well for me.

So what size Tunze is on the oscilator? Do you have a photo of the "above water" view? Only reason I ask is that I need some more water flow in my tank and after seeing this could be an option. Thanks!

I believe its a 6125, or the next model up. It is attached to the center overflow.

Thanks. I really agree with the comment about movement. It adds a lot. I also like to have softies because I want as much diversity in the tank as I can manage. It makes it more of a challenge and therefore more fun.

Any chance of new footage . Your tank remains an inspiration to me and many more no doubt! It would be great to see the progress under the LED's and get your perspective approximately 6 months on...
