New website and aquatrader review

I just wanted to share my review of the aquatrader.com 760W MH light canopy, as well as about my tank. For those of you that don't know this fixture it is a pretty inexpensive MH/PC/Moon Light fixture that comes with electronic ballasts. There has been some debate on the quality. Read my review. Feel free to check out the original thread.

An I wanted to say that was one of the best lectures i have seen on reef keeping today at Sharky's reef. Good job to all who ran it...

Cheers,
Edward

Very cool tank! I've been seriously considering one of those Odyssea fixtures now that they come with the electronic ballasts to replace my crappy Viper light. Do you have a better picture of how it looks on the tank? I mean with more room lights on or the flash? I really want a nice looking fixture. Thanks for the review!

the fixture is from aquatrader.com $359 shipped with two MH DE bulbs and four 65W PC. I just added a couple more pics to the webpage.

Edward,
Thanks for the kind words, I enjoyed the opportunity!

Thanks for YOUR efforts to keep your fellow hobbyists informed about equipment available out there!
Great detailed photos!
VERY cool wave tank also, love to see it set up!

BTW, how, exactly, do you suppose someone walks off with that awesome beast of a scope that was stolen! :(
Looks like a ton of effort to have created, sorry it was taken.

Steve

Your welcome...it truly was a good presentation...I was wondering if a copy of the health presentation was available?

I appreciate the fact your a Vet. My sister-in-law is a Equine vet and a grad from Michigan State. I wonder how many people realize that their personal physician was a vet school washout? For people that don't know Vet school is probably one of the hardest disciplines to get a degree. Anyway i digress.

I would love to see your tank in person one day as well.

Edward

Well I am cycling my tank and tuning the flow so I have not been able to let it run on a normal cycle. But to date, when i needed it has lit just fine. And so far does a fine job.

I would definitely by another one if i needed to at this point.

I'm so close to pulling the trigger. . . .

I called them about the 20" MH and PC for my 30 cube for a cheaper tester unit and they no longer sell that model.
Looks like it's the 48" model or nothing. I currently run a 6 bulb T5 which I really like, I'd just like to see what the tank looks like under MH.

Did you get the 10K or 14K MH bulb? I guess that's up to them.

Talking to the lady there they only come with 10K or 20K....and that is determined at the time they test it by using what is available.

I belive I got the 10K because it is pretty white...definatly no yellow tinge...I like the look.

I know others buy the fixture and then replace the factory bulbs with their own preferred.

I went with MH because I love the glitter lines, you know they work with every SPS or clam, beside my utilities are included in my rent.

An ebay seller named Hommby gets the 20" model pretty often and he seems to be a reliable seller. I know a couple of people that bought from him and it went well.

Hommby is the same people as aquatrader.com, in fact I saw Hommby on eBay selling the same fixture as the one i got for $20 more.
