Let me know how ignorant these are and what I am doing wrong and possible settings I would need to help correct . . Nikon D40

Tripod coming asap these are without:

Blurry

Blurry

Blue Not representing correctly

These are my first shots . . need to know what to tweek (besides getting a real lens (18-55 right here) and a tripod for movment on these types of photos.

Input and calling me an idiot welcomed.

not bad. not ignorant for sure! I love the fish. a tripod is going to help alot also when useing a tripod use your timer to take the photo unless you have a remote. here is some good reading. heck of a good guy, loves the camera, loves to help, check it out.

Try and shoot a higher f stop to increase depth of field once you get on your tripod. Take the camera off the P(program) mode and shoot Aperature priority or manual. Also, pick your point of focus on the front side of the subject as the majority of your depth of field is behind your focal point. These two elements will help improve your photos. Also, go to manual focus for your macro photography and preview your depth of field before firing the frame if your camera has this function.

Thank you so very much for your input, I will try again later and see if I can improve a bit. . though I still won't have a "Macro" lens, I will do my best.

My biggest issues right now is learning the D40s variables for taking pictures and how to operate them to my advantage.
