I see that there a bunch of new members on the forum. Welcome!! It is terrific to see our local reefing community growing. No doubt, you have already figured out that this can be a very expensive hobby. To help you new guys/gals to defray costs a bit, before going to local live fish stores (which are basically aweful), you should check with the local folks with established reefs who almost always have stuff for sale, usually quite cheaply as compared to the local stores or even web sites. We are usually happy to help out newcomers. Also, be sure to check out people who are downsizing or moving tanks since they also usually have stuff at even greater discounts. For any newfolks here, I have various softies (zoas, palys, shrooms, ricordea, anthelia, leathers etc) that I can part with cheaply. Also check with Piazzon, NRogers, DaveVG, Dave (Pircs) etc. as well. Also advice and input is always free. Learn from those who already made expensive mistakes so that you don't have to repeat them. Also you should ask to visit those with established tanks (even without intent to purchase corals) to get ideas for your own system. We have a great crew here. Take advantage. Also, feel free to drop in on zoo tank get togethers when they occur. That is a great way to learn stuff.

I would start off with some softies maybe some LPS. Mushrooms, Kenya trees, Zoas and rics (softies) are easy. Maybe a piece of frogspawn (LPS) they are fairly easy. LPS need a more mature tank tho. How long has your tank been up and running? Not sure who has what for sale right now. I know I don't have anything right now. Post in the main STRS and people who do will chime in I’m sure. Good luck

Thanks for the welcome Dr bronx! I myself have been taking advantage of the locals (fedukeford,piazzon,thepircs) and they have been VERY nice and VERY helpful! I usually drag jess with me so she can meet you all also. If anyone has any things they think can go in our fairly new tanks for sale just drop us a pm.

If anyone needs anything...
I have Green Star Polyps that are exploding. I have them contained to one rock, but it has multiple flaps that are extending out. I was going to give some to the LFS, but if anyone wants some, please let me know.
I also have Kenya Tree droppings all over my tank
If anyone wants a branch, I can spare some of that too...
I have a huge Toadstool Leather as well, that I can frag from.
Willing to give most of this stuff away...it is like trimming the shrubs for the winter
And...if anyone wants some aptasia anemones, they are really cool, I have a ton, but I want like $100 a piece for them.

Well...I am not sure they are gone for good...because I have wiped them out before and they have come back...but for now they are gone.
I mixed up some Pickling Lime to a thin paste and put it right in their mouths...
Vince said to inject them with some lemon juice after that, but I didn't get to that step, so they may come back. Some of mine are very hard to get to, in the back of the tank...

truebeliever71 Aiptasia-x and peps have worked well for me. I had about 50 to 75 Aiptasias. Been treating for about a month or so now and I feel I have it well under control. Just popped two the other day that moved into range. I bought the smaller 60 ml bottle and still have half left so it does go along way.
Great link Dave. Knowledge, perseverence and a healthy dose of insanity are the keys to success in this hobby. A little luck doesn't hurt either. As far as knowledge goes, reading is essential. The link Dave provided will help. Those articles contain most info necessary for the hobby.
