Hi guys,

My name is Mark. I live in Rocklin, 32, graduated last year and now a software engineer. I've been lurking on RC and MARS for a few months now. I've had a small FW tank holding me over for a while, but want to step it up. I've accepted that I can't afford a reef setup right now (wife is pregnant and she was just laid off); however, I was thinking of at least building up a large freshwater in the meantime to hold me over.

To start off, I am looking for a 4 foot long tank. This tank would preferably be 75 - 120 gallons and all glass.

I've started keeping an eye out on craigslist, but thought it would also be worth asking here.

Thanks,
Mark

Not sure if your are interested, but I have a 72 gallon AGA (All Glass) bow front. It is 4 feetlong and is "reef-ready" with a predrilled overflow. I have the matching stand and fluorescent lights (so you could go saltwater and maybe even soft coral, but not SPS or LPS corals until you got something better).

I also have an acrylic sump (which can be run wet dry if you are so inlined), heater and a cannister filter.

PM me if you're interested and I can get you some pictures and a price.

Pete

Prodman is selling a 120 on the BAR club form for 650 w/ sump return pump heater he is in Napa all you would need to add is lights, and a skimmer

Thanks, I didn't consider looking there. I'll take a look.

I checked out his thread. That is much more than I'm looking to spend on a tank. My target is to spend $100 on a 120 gallon tank. The stand and canopy I will be building myself.

We got a rippin' deal on our reef ready 75g Oceanic off craigslist.

But: We had to wait a while for it to come along. It has a serious scratch. I put about 2 months of garage time into prepping and modding it before we brought it in the house.

The deals are out there, but you gotta be flexible.

There are some great deals out there. Don't rush into it. Start working on your skimmer and look for your lighting. You will find a tank because there are always people upgrading or leaving the hobby.

That's exactly the approach I'm going to take. I'm going to work on making some DIY rock. That gives me 8 weeks to find a tank and build a stand and canopy.
