Next Lens to Buy

Right now for my Canon T3i, I have the kit 18-55mm lens and was given a 75-300mm 1.5m/4.9ft lens. Both are fun and have helped me break into DSLR photography but now I am looking for another Lens to add to a ever growing collection.

I would like a Macro for the aquarium but don't want to be limited to close-up shots only. If it could stay between the $300-$600 range, I would appreciate it but I'm open to suggestions for higher priced lens.

Just sending out feelers right now to see what some responses are. I haven't narrowed down what type of photgraphy I enjoy the most yet but I'm slightly leaning towards Landscapes.

Read the macro sticky up top.

A 100mm macro lens still works as a 100mm prime (non-zoom) lens. It's not like you can only use it for macro.

That's not a true macro lens. A macro lens can get you 1:1 magnification. It explains all this in the macro lens sticky.

How far will you be from the front pane of the aquarium glass with the 60mm compared to the 100mm? Will I be able to zoom into the middle of the aquarium to take pics of corals with both the 60mm and the 100mm? My the in 18" deep

For about $100.00, pick up the Nifty Fifty, Canon's 50mm 1.8 Prime. It's an amazing lens for the price.

The Canon 100mm Macro is also an exceptional lens and can be used for much more than Macro photography. It's an amazing Portraiture lens.
