I purchased the Ultralife Red Slime Remover and added it to my tank Thursday; I followed the directions to a T, adding the air stone and everything. Saturday I lost a B&W Clown, this mourning I have lost my other B&W clown and my possum wrasse. Loving this product so far. It is even removing the red slime at the same time.

Here is the gist for Ultralife Red Slime Remover.
UltraLife Red Slime Remover is a revolutionary time tested product, that will effectively and safely remove Red Slime quickly from all Coral and Invertebrates. UltraLife RSR contains natural cellular matter, select biological accelerators and special supplements proven effective in removing Red Slime from Corals and Invertebrates and is Safe for reef tanks, corals, invertebrates, desirable macro-algae, nitrifying bacteria and fish.

UltraLife RSR will accelerate the solubilization and biological digestion of organic solids. In the process, the oxygen uptake rate in your aquarium will increase as a result of this increased biological activity. It is very important that your aquarium is able to support this increased oxygen demand along with your aquatic life's need for oxygen. Therefore we recommend increasing your O2 levels by the addition of air-stones prior to and during treatment.

For best results, DO NOT turn off UV Sterilizer or Ozone Generator. Continuation of Protein Skimming is recommended but may require adjustment.
Due to Increased biological digestion of organic solids we recommend increasing your O2 levels by the addition of air-stones prior to and during treatment.
No need for Water changes or Removal of Carbon Filtration.

Safe for reef tanks, corals, invertebrates, desirable macro-algae, nitrifying bacteria and fish.

Wow, that really sucks. I did a lot of reading when I was going through my algae blooms and I just couldn't get myself to use this stuff for this reason specifically. I heard tons of great reviews, but the several bad reviews and stories of dead fish turned me away. I'm really sorry you lost your fish.

I'm really needing some in my reef, the red slime is ****ing my stuff off so much. I guess now would be good time since my remaining fish are in quarantine. Sorry to hear about your fish, I lost 5 so far, Can you move remaining into another tank for a few days while it is cycling?

The part of this that upsets me the most is how the words on the package show no concern that this product will have any negatives effects on the reef tank. Now looking back it almost seems too good to be true, correct? No water changes, adjust your skimmer, and don’t remove carbon media; all that I can say is that I am greatly disappointed in the company and their product. They need to put some warning on the product if this is the case on some people killing fish by using the product. The plan is contact the company I do not have their number as of right now, but am sure I can get it somehow. The treatment was not the first thing that I considered doing as I have been battling redslime for some time now. I took the natural measures first, feeding less, water changes, and changing the filtration pads regularly. This did not work to well. I only used this product because others I had talked to loved the results they received. I on the other hand do not share their enthusiasm for this product as of now.
Moving the fish is out of the question, the stress alone of moving a tang is enough to kill it. Figure the time when I start moving coral out of the tank and then rock, chasing the fish with nets; will be around a few hours of work. Right now they seem to be fine, fingers are crossed, will just have to see what happens.

That really sucks, I used the product two years ago without any loss. Guess I was just lucky. So sorry for your loss that hurts.

Like you stated, it sounded too good to be true. I've found that most times if it sounds too good to be true, it almost always is. I've also found with reef tanks there usually isn't a quick fix for most issues; it's all about time and patience. This sucks though, it is always hard to accept any loss.

Sad to hear. I wont use anything that doesn`t say exactly what it is. A lot of the red slime removers were antibiotic in nature- and were pretty harmless. Key thing is to correct whatever is causing the outbreak.

Really sucks, I had to move all my fish because of the new clowns that came with my big seabae had ick, Killed all my clowns (including them) my goby, all i have left is my tang which looks to be handling it well and a scooter blenny. I am really sad i lost so many fish so i do know how you feel.

The only people I have heard having success with it did a 20% water change afterwards. Several actually said that was in the instructions, but I've never looked at it so dunno. I try to avoid quick fix chemicals.

It does not say to do a water change in the directions at all. Trust me this was my last resort nothing else has worked. I have had readslime in the tank for more than 2 months. I do not belive in quick fixes but when it starts to take over your coral what else is there to do?

If I could only figure out what was causing the outbreak. Seems to me that know one really knows. Just ask her on RC and you get 20 diffrent answers. I know dave (stumpdaddy) has had issues with redslime and is in the same boat I was. Nothing is working no matter what.

I have the worst out of anyone i know of, I have 5 reactors running stuff to get rid of it but like Logan i am at the end of my rope to rid this chit from my tank, It actually is making my stuff not grow or open because of it. I suck it out, pick it out, flush it out, nothing gets rid of it, Tried no lights for 3 days, still there, tried water changes daily, still there. Im going to use the slime away on mine this week. I have had enough of it and my stuff in tank is sick of it also.

P.S. I also tried the no feeding anything into my tank and something keeps this crap feed and thriving.

Here's what they say on their website about their product:

Don't Let ugly Red Slime destroy the beauty and delicate balance of your marine or reef aquarium. Now you can finally remove that unsightly red slime algae quickly from corals and invertebrates, without harm to fish, invertebrates, desirable macro algae, corals or reef inhabitants. Simply add Ultralife 'RSR' and watch the brilliant colors come back to your aquarium as the Red Slime disappears. Truly a product you should not be without.

I also got their number so they are getting a nice call tomorrow. 203-922-0066

Both my pacific blue and yellow tang look bad, one eye in the pacific blue is cloudy and has white marks all over his body, same with the yellow tang except the eye's are not cloudy.

Sounds like very bad stress. But im not a fish veterinarian. Wish i had something to tell you which could help out but i really don't. Just a thought could you do a few water changes to try and settle the effect of it down that might get the stress off of them? Just a suggestion bud.

Just about to do a water change, had to wait for my slow RO/DI water to be made. I am about out of salt so don't know how many water changes I can do. Will have to buy salt. The only stress that was put into the tank was bubbles, and a good amount, of which the directions tells you to do.

It says it take oxygen out of water so you have to supply a air stone, You can add some water to tank without the salinity dropping off. Just use all the salt you got and if you see any major drop i can run some out in a emergency.

Ive got 5 gallons already mixed in a bucket i was gonna use, You can have it, Its good r.o. which salinity is about 1.18 for my quarantine tank but can bump it up to 1.24

im not trying to be a smart *** but some one once told me to never to use chemicals in my tank ummm i think it was logan12 sorry to hear about your lose bro and also sorry i didnt make it over this weekend to get that anamone i will try to make it this weekend if thats ok pm me if thats cool

Sounds like a bad deal Logan. I've only had to deal with it once and luckily a couple 3 day tank blackouts got rid of it for me. If you're running a skimmer I wouldn't even worry about adding the air stone.
