No idea what is on my Rainbow Granulosa

I had this very beautiful rainbow granulosa, but then it started to lose its blue tips. I tried to move it to a different placement, but tips continued to go from blue to dull weirdish brown. Then the tips started to stn. I decided to take it out and dip it and not only is the underside stning, but there are 4 "bumps" with a hole in them. Is there some creature living in these and slowly killing this piece?

Thanks, I guess I never noticed them before, and they just looked very odd without any tissue there. Was somewhat hoping it was the cause of the stn...all other corals are fine in my tank.

Any suggestion on what to do with the coral? Should I frag it?

On maricultured you really can't. They shouldn't be a problem at all. I have 3 maricutured acros in my tank, and all have at least one barnacle, and are healthy and growing well.

It's a barnacle, that's not the reason it's STNing

+1 barnacle. Common on wilds.

Yup, barnacles. Harmless creatures. Filter feeders.

I belive barnacles die off pretty fast in the aquarium.

Most probably, in my tank though, I have 3 or 4 that came on small frags (chopped up mari piece). Even 4-5 months later, they are still living as I can see movement. I guess it depends on how much and the quality of the liverock; as that may be producing enough foods for them in my tank.

As for the issue with the coral itself, is this a maricultured coral? How long have you had it in your tank?

Are you certain all other corals are fine?

Your photos are very good. I cannot see any AEFW bite marks. So, at least that is a relief. Have you basted the coral in just tank water in a separate container?

My LFS had one maricultured piece that had the same issue you are having. They then fragged it up. Some of the frags health over, some continued to have the same issue you are having and I saw the frags a few days ago, those ones that looked bad are are dead.

I bought one of the frags that looked better than most. For a while in my tank it was OK. But its been more some weeks and I can see it has areas which look identical to yours.

All the other acros in my tank are fine and growing nicely. All my parameters check out nicely. Tank is coming up to 9 months, having been setup with rock from a previous setup.

If this is a mari piece then that might explain it to some extent. Some mari pieces are just like that. Maybe the flow or maybe the food is insufficient.

Is that AEFW?

Possibility of AEFW coming from the wild and the stn and the red circle area looks like flat worm

3rd pix down you can see aefw in between 2 barnacles

Good eyes!

Those do look like AEFW.

You need to bast the coral in a clear container with white paper underneath. Use a bright torch and watch for any FW's coming off the coral. Remove other corals and bast them in separate containers.

Sorry to say, but it does look as though you have AEFWs. Those pointed out by others sure look like it, even though there are no obvious bite marks on the body of the coral.

Have you encountered AEFWs before? If not, then read up and start a QT tank of some sort and start dipping if you confirm AEFW's.

That is not an aefw between the barnacles nor at the bottom of my container. These pictures were taken right after my bayer dip and I basted heavily. The circled spot is sad to say some "rust" from leaving a razor blade in container too long. I cannot get it off of the tupperware.

This piece has been in my system for about 4 months. I picked it up from a LFS. He kept a frag and his is doing fine, but as I mentioned, my tips started to lose color first, then PE loss, and now this weird stn.
