Nominations

We now have two additional positions that are part of the BOD. The two are IT director and PR/Events coordinator. We need to have nominations for these positions. Although IT expertise is not required for the IT position a knowledge of it would be helpful. If a person is nominated that can not do the technical parts of the job they would have a group that would be able too.

Jason was nominated at the meeting so if he is not elected to Pres he will be nominated for PR position.

And I also nominated Zac for the IT position.

Also to be clear if you have a desire to help the club and you feel you can with your experience and knowledge please put your name in and we will pick one to the position and then the rest could be called on by that person to help the group.

I would like to nominate Gabberjaw for the PR position. Leah is friendly, well liked, and has the gift of gabbing with anyone. She is always talking to people about our hobby and the club and has experience at this sort of thing.

For the IT position, I nominate Sean (Supertech99) since Zach has already been nominated.

My refusal will largely be viewed as hypocritical considering I so fervently supported the position creation, however, I must decline the nomination. I want to be as active in the club as I can this year and wish to serve the club on the BOD in years to follow however; I am only 6 months into the creation of a new department at VUMC. I am currently working 2 full time positions both as an administrator and a clinician racking up close to 80 hrs a week. I anticipate that this will decline as the year progresses however; I would be totally MIA for the first 6 months of the proposed term. Thank you for the consideration and I hope that I would be considered for the future as it is something I want to do. I am very willing to serve on any committee in the second half of this year.
I would like to second Rick’s nomination, and I would also like to nominate Brandon for IT Director. I also think that Rick and Brandon would do a great job in the PR positions as well so I would like to nominate them for that.

I would like to nominate Mnemic for both positions and he can accept one or the other as he sees fit.

Also Mike MLVK will you accept either nomination? Are you an IT guy or would you rather be the PR type?

We need to have some more people step up and help.

Im gonna nominate Andy for the IT pos. He to my understanding has pretty much done all the it work on the MTRC.org site its only fitting if hes has the most knowledge on its inner workings that he continue to build it. He has some good ideas & his knowledge could come in handy. Handy Andy lol.

I'll bow out for this round. Just picked up a new job this weekend and need to see how crazy things will be till I get settled into it. Hopefully it will continue going well and I can help in other ways very soon.

I'm an IT guy, used to run a web hosting company and ISP tech support department, and now I do a lot of ASP.NET/AJAX programming. I'd be happy to help the new IT director if needed.

Very cool. You know linux and PHP as well?

Hehe yeah, I managed between 60-80 linux servers at the ISP. I can read and follow PHP code enough to know what can be changed without breaking anything, but I wouldn't be able to write PHP programs from scratch without a reference manual open constantly. I saw the website is Joomla-based; I've never worked with particular one, but I have my share of experience with portal/cms systems.

These days, I'm an MCSE on Windows Server 2003 and an Active Directory specialist at work, so naturally I do more .NET stuff than anything else. I do manage a couple of Debian boxes at work though (NAGIOS monitoring), so I've managed to keep some of my Linux skills sharp at least.
