Non-canopy LED options

Hi,

Just getting back into things after 10 years out. Looking to set up a FOWLR 48 x 24 x 24. My biggest question - I've seen some clean setups with no canopy but a pendant type LED light system. I'm interested in the ReefBreeders Photon V2 due to the different lighting options. Is this overkill for a non-coral tank? does this look ok without a canopy hiding the light fixture?

Overkill? Depends on your definition. Is it more light then needed for a fowlr? Yes. But then again, a fowlr could get away with a single incandescent bulb. I would say that would be a great looking/functioning light.

I've never owned one to hang over a tank, but the ones ive seen in pictures look great without a canopy.
