North Dakota Mini-Ocean

Dave you may have already looked at Glass Reef's build thread here on RC, but if you haven't check it out. His tank has a external over flow and allot of automation to help with maintenance, plus he goes into a great deal of depth on how to do most of it. Good luck going forward Mike.

how about an update Dave?? what did u decide to do? If you really want to do a bigger glass tank I would be willing to build one on site for you...or with you whatever you like!

Well my wife (Ami) and I have decided to tear down the tank and go a different direction in the basement. I am just to involved with work and family activities that the tank just doesn't get the attention it deserves or needs. Down the road I could see myself doing a larger tank, but that would be when I have time to do so. I will be posting a thread in the sales forum with all the equipment and livestock for sale. I will also be giving that list to the local aquarium store in Fargo. The only fish I see that might need to be sold on this site would be the Clarion, while the others could be sold locally.

Someone must have cut down that money tree in the back yard!!! I would love to take that clarion off your hands PM me a fair price.

sad to hear its coming down, i dont make it down to Fargo often and i always wanted to see this tank in person.

It's a sad day for sure hearing the tank is coming down. I do know how hard it is to find time to work on it though with a new job and new addition to the family. I am seeing the time I can spend with mine go down and down each week, but I am still able to be around enough to keep it going and growing.

Give me a call if you need any assistance with the teardown or if you need to find homes for some of the stuff that is left. If you do decide to get back into reef keeping, I will be the first in line to hook you up with corals from my tank.

Well the tank is down for good. All inhabitants went to good homes except the clarion who is at a friends house temporarily while awaiting a good home. I learned a lot in the past 4 years for Version 2. I'll be back one day...

Glad to hear, if you need help at all let me know. I live out of town now but still active. Can't wait to see this go around

Awesome! There has been a severe shortage of big builds in the prairies. Looking forward to it!

I really got the itch about 8 months ago when I toured Shed Aquarium in Chicago and it came to full-head this week when I visited the New England Aquarium in Boston. I really missed reef-keeping. So I'm back with a bunch of experience and of course questions. I literally have been out of the trade for 2+ years and never even came back to the site at all...I also have no equipment left over. Everything was purged.

I'm sure you all want to know what and where...Well I have an idea that I will be going BIGGER...750+!! But I'm not sure I want this version in the house. So either in a separate building or the garage. The humidity really messed with my house. The basement was hard to access with water changes and the equipment room was limited and hard to clean and access anything easily.

So what ideas does everyone have?

about time LOL reefing is an addiction thats almost impossible to kick. Welcome back cant wait to see what you do this time. Hell take the garage as a man cave and and build a new garage to house the cars
