Norwegian 133 g acrylic sps tank

Hi Andreas, hope you and the family are well. How is the reef going?

I wanted to specifically ask, can you please describe your filtration?

Do you run:

1. GAC/Activated Carbon/Charcoal on this tank? Passive/Active? How much replaced when?

2. Do you run Phosphate remover?

3. Any other chemical filtration/bio Pellets etc?

Many thanks.

Thank you Sahin. We are fine, how about you? I threw out most of my LR a couple of days ago. I will leave it outside till all the aiptasia and star polyps are dead. Will clean it and put it back. Then I only have one problem left and thats getting rid of the rest of the aiptasia on the LR that I kept.

Btw, the Algae Mower Vac doesn't work on aiptasia.

I got the Kessil A350 led unit I bought on ebay yesterday. I hope my frags will grow and colour up with this light. Pictures will come. I am finally starting to get back the spark again. In a couple of weeks I hope the tank will look good enough to take some pictures:bounce3:

Pictures of the frag area in the sump and the Kessil lamp will come in a coupleof days:dance:

Sorry, forgot to answer your questions.

I have Rowa Carbon (active carbon) and RowaPhos (phosphate remover) in the filter. I started with a small dose. Will see how it works before I add more Rowaphos. I don't use Biopellets anymore. I suspect that was the reason why I had/have so much cyano.

I don't use any other filter media. The Bubble King is really effective, love that skimmer!

Thanks for the info on filtration. I am good, and so is my family. :)

I am glad you got the reefing spark again!

I heard good things about those Kessils, and apart from being able to dim and control different channels, I think they are GREAT lights.

Seeing the result you got with the Orphek over your tank, I have no doubt that in the hands of a skillful SPS keep like yourself, LED's pose no problem.

I will be keenly following how your SPS do under the Kessil...I have a small amount of space in my sump for a few frags...once my corals grow I may place some frags down there in a year or so.

Look forward to the photos.

Forgot to add; with regards to the Aiptasia, if you can get hold of TRUE peppermint shrimp, then place all affected rocks in your 2nd sump...chuck the shrimps in there and let them commence work. In a week or so the rocks should be clean.

This way you still maintain filtration capacity of the rocks and your acros and other corals are safe from the shrimps.

You can also try Nudibranch, but need lots of them and its slower process.

If you can get easy access to most of the Aiptasia, a tiny gas torch works very well:

This is a small handheld device, the flame is size of flame from a cigarette lighter, but much more fierce.

I use one to burn off algae/suspected creatures/eggs etc from rocks and frag bases.

Hello just read your thread from the beginning and that is an amazing setup, Its been a while since last update and was curious are you still in the hobby and if so how is the tank looking?

Hi Selje love the work you have done, i'm running two Atlantik's too and wondering if you can share you distance of the fixture above the water height as well as highest par you are seeing? You mentioned you were running coral color at first when you got these just wondering if you adjusted lighting schedule and settings. I'm still not 100 percent happy with my schedule and settings but i'm only seeing 65 percent on all channels at this time. Looks awesome by the way your sps's are sick!
