not the most cost effective greenhouse you ever heard of

Great thread! I'm tagging along.

I have a few questions if you don't mind.
When do you have to use supplimental light? Is it seasonal or specific to certin corals?
You said you are using central air and you also mentioned vents/fans. When you open the gh vents does all the cold air get sucked out of the green house?

hey Brian its a 1 1/2 plumbing. I will gravity feed it. Bayou I use supplimental lighting all year but cut it back several hours durring the summer months. As for the ac .... In the past I would turn the ventilator fan off so the cold air stays in. That metod is"not the most cost effective" so... thats why the new chiller;) . The old way works but it will be nice to have as backup to the new chiller

"hey Brian its a 1 1/2 plumbing"

Chris :wavehand: :D

Should work great, especially since you will only need to "trim" the temps after your air handler takes care of most of it. Or, do you plan on letting the other tanks run a bit higher this year and only run the chiller on the SPS?

H20 did I call you Bryan, I meant Chris:o well I was actually thinking about taking the air handler off line and rely on the fresh air fan to keep inside temps no higher than outside temps. This is purely experimental . If outside temps get too high I will have to kick in the air handler. We shall see as this weekend I will have time to do the work:D

I quess you got it before I edited it? and yes I did away with the geo loop. I think the dune I buried the lines under changed elevation durring various wind storms and they turned into an instant heater:eek:

Bummer!
I know that vertical bores are best, but way more equipment intensive.
BTW, I tested the 4-way with air and it works awesome! Put one on your airlifts for more motion :)

chiller instalation

chiller instalation

wow after an eventful day it is in . This is not for the diy'er it was a mother efer. It really chills the hell out of the water. I will give pics and details when I am rested:rolleyes:

the new chiller is working great and have kept the temps at 80 all day ,give or take 1 degree. here is a pic of the same stag that I have been showing

since the installation of the chiller I have noticed quite a difference in sps polyp extention. The temp swing used to be about 3 degrees and now it is about .7degree. That heat exchanger really works well. I now know that it is a nessesity for acro development in a gh situation. Ive seen alot of new gh's out there and good luck to you. Luck is what you will need with no chiller;)

Very nice setup. What are you using the air blower for that you pictured earlier? Air lifts? Where did you get your vats from and what are their dimensions? Is this greenhouse free standing or is it attached to your home?
