not the most cost effective greenhouse you ever heard of

Hey Treeman and Redox.

Well I have a new option for starting my PT as a pliot run.
Where I am setup at the moment for my wholesale business there is a spare shed that has a corrigated iorn roof. As it is not being used I was thinking of taking the roof off and placing clear pannels to setup a greenhouse.

First thoughts of thinking is should I trace down clear pannels to put on the roof or just go with plastic and strech it over the beams?

Redox - Are you happy with the roofing that you have or do you think it is stunting growth.

I will get some pics and ask for some feedback of what you will suggest for the roofing.

now that I maintain a constant temp growth has gone crazy. I like the security of the poly-carb panels . Every one says they dont have the proper spectrum? All lps and leathers are doing just fine under natural sun only (no suplimental light at all). The sps are under supplimental lighting in the form of one 400w 15k on a light mover.on at 9am off at 12pm on again at5pm off at 8pm so the sps do have supplimental lighting and this might be the offset of the poly panels. I have not tryed it without the suplimental light so I dont know for sure if the panels are not letting the right light in or not. (for acros ) I already know that zoos, star polyps, lps , rock culture, do well under the panels with no suplimental light

Redox,
I forget, what do you feed the corals? Or do you simply feed the fish and the rest takes care of itself?

so far that has worked. Once a day fish feeding of cyclops, brine shrimp, rotifers, prime reef, mysis.

red goni under the sun

I just started reading this thread, and had to ask, cause I am sure you have answered, but I also had a question on this piece..

anyways...

1 Where are you located (State wise), getting direct sunlight, obviously outside (greenhouse, as thread says)?

2. Are you climate controlling greenhouse? ac or heater or both.
Or chiller heater in tanks.

3. How much evaporation per day (approx gallons)

4. and the most important question...How would I score that red goni coral in the pic above from you...lol pm is ok, or e-mail for pricing and other purchasing info thanks

I gave that red goni to a friend and it is still doing fine. Dont really sell anything mostly give away. All climate controll is really a chiller and some fans.In the winter very little heat is needed as the area I live the temps are high due to the influx of the atlantic gulf stream waters. average is high 40's to low 50's in the winter. (by the way there are no lots left here for sale so all interested can forget it:rollface:  ) evap is not as much in the summer due to already high humidity rates.

Redox,
you've got a real ambitious set up there, and while I'd like to send some kudos your way, I am reluctant.

Picture a time way back when you were just beginning, when you didn't use polycarbonate panels, or a blower for circulation, back before you found the boat builder to fashion some custom prop tanks. Back then, well, you might have even considered yourself "clueless".

But now that you've got something to show for it, something that not everybody can call their own, you come off as a little, um, "superior" when you post things like

"I know what you really need to get, a clue" on ATTR's thread.

While I DO admire your pictures of something unique in your own home, it's a little offputting and more telling about the person when the accomplished folks among us are so condescending to the beginners. Just let us each take our missteps, and i you have something remotely constructive to say,...Nah, well, guess I'm guilty of not taking my own advice.
M:rolleyes:

dude Ive been deep in saltwater reefs before alot of people here were even born. Its funny how that little comment I made has upset so many. Why hasnt he posted more pics? I guess I was right. Your the man with 27 posts, I guess I dont care what you think. Thanks for the criticizm:p you can keep your kudos:cool:
