Nuuze's 79G SPS Reef

I totally agree what you are saying as the corals grow to that size they will need their space Ali. But for the time being while they are small frags I think it's kind of a waste to spend all the money on top notch equipment and only to keep 8-12 corals. On top of that I think it would kind of look plain to me. I did leave space for them to grow but like you said, they will eventually get to a point where they will start to grow into each other and I will have to spread them out more or will have to trim. I think when it gets to that point I can then either get a 2nd tank or a larger one.

I guess what i was envisioning was a miniature scale of a big reef in my family room.

Thanks for the info Ali! :)

Nuuze great tank!

Ali, i cant agree more. our next tank will be ~90 gallons and have 10 corals...you should have seen the look my friends gave me when i told them that ;)

Nuuze-

Seeing that the Elos tank has no top, have you had any problems with jumpers? I noticed you had several wrasse and a firefish. I just ordered a elos tank myself, and had planned on staying away from wrasses, but if you are succesfull maybe Ill change my mind.

Peace

So far so good except for a cleaner wrasse. It jumped to it's death on to the back of the tank. But the rest are fine for several months now. Once in a while I'll get a wandering snail that goes above the water line but that's pretty much it. :)

Speaking of fish, what's your current fish stock list? Any other fish you're considering?

Also how are you plumbing your chiller to the system?

Here's my fish:

1 maroon
2 Anthias
1 Tricolor wrasse
1 sixline wrasse
1 yellow wrasse
1 Tomini tang
1 Spotted mandarin
1 Scissor tail goby
1 Randalls Goby and pistol shrimp
1 Pygmy angel

Not looking to add anymore at the moment.

I have my return pump T'd. One goes back to the tank and the other goes to the chiller with a valve to control flow, from the chiller it goes back to the sump.

No, I T'd my return pump to the chiller with a flow control valve like the valve that comes with a TLF Phosban, then back to sump.

ah ok, that's fancy =) my chiller is going to be in my basement, so I have to probably run a pump in the sump, otherwise it'll have to be manually primed since the tank isn't drilled for an input/output below the water line.

I finally got rid of the frag rack that was hanging on the back side of the tank. Only took a few days for the snails to do the cleanup work.
