Ok so im interested in learning to play! Does anyone know of a forum like this on the topic? Also are there any experienced players that could point me in the right direction as far as picking a first time guitar, lessons, etc?

What kind of guitar do you want to play? You will want to choose your guitar and your instructor based on the style of guitar/music you like. Kind of like corals, do you want to keep Softies, LPS, or SPS. Well we need to know if you want to play classical, rock, or country before any recommendations can be made. I don't know any forums for musicians even thought I am sure there are some. I do know these two websites have lots of cool gear and I have wasted thousands of dollars on them...

Good luck!

Nate im mostly into alot of alternative rock, some metal, classic rock, and a little country. I'm pretty sure i wanna start out learning with an acoustic guitar and then if i stick with it get an electric. I have just heard so many opinions on the brand acoustic and new or used that im starting to get confused haha!

You can check on harmony-central.com . Cool site, lots of used gear and forums. When I learned I got a semi-inexpensive acoustic before getting my Parker Nitefly.

I would check Craigs list or the paper. I would bet you could find a good deal on there. Just make sure the strings aren't too far off the fret board and the neck isn't too warped or bowed. To get an idea of what you are looking for you could go check out the guitar center in Johnson City by the mall. They have really good prices on new stuff if you decide to buy a new guitar. FWIW fender makes nice guitars. Even the less expensive ones are nice.
