Cool Job!

I've never seen their Marshall Island rock, I have Tonga branch and Fiji Premium. Mike doesn't sell bad rock, in fact he cherry picks all of the cases with showpieces and they let him do it because of OP's crazy volume. Keep in mind this is the same rock that OP uses for their clients like Rainforest Cafe and their $150,000 in home fishroom builds. I have seen giant pieces there, I bought a single piece of branch that is a 2 foot by 3 foot matrix with all the pointy ends intact!

You won't be dissapointed, air cargo is the way to go, you want it there quickly and that's why OP offers it.

Yeah, thats why I'm going with OP...great price too!

Have you HEARD anything about their MI rock? Some people might say," Oh...just get the Fiji...", but I'm really interested in MI...or a mix of the two might be nice. I had it (MI) in the past and nothing compared. I'm sure I won't be disappointed with either!

If you have experience with MI rock go for it! How is it different from Fiji? I like Fiji because it has lots of nooks and crannies to put frags in. Tonga tends to be too dense for my taste. I think I had one rock from MI from a friend's tank. If that's what it was I'd definitely go with MI, it was way more porious, when I tried to chisel so zoos off the rock broke into pieces, it had lots of open voids and tunnels, way more open than even Fiji.

In general, MI is somewhat less dense than Fiji (from what I hear about Fiji rock). Carribean, on the other hand, is like a lead brick :D

MI is VERY porous...I would guess that OP has it about right when they sell a 30 lb box of MI for about the same as a 50lb box of Fiji...they probably appear similar in volume.

MI rock is fragile and always has very interesting shapes with many crevases (sp?) and openings.

Anyway....I'm sure either will be fine. Just don't want to get OP's MI rock without first getting some word (from consumers) on it.

Thanks for your input.

Tony

well im sure it would be safe to assume the MI would be top quality as the rest of there rock is. Im sure you wont be dissapointed!!

MI?

What have you learned about OP's MI rock?

$9 shipping??????

30 lb on web site is $120

For $9 it's cheaper than the gas you'd burn driving there. The only downside is not getting to put in face time with Mike, he's a cool guy

FWIW

Just called about placing an order for MI rock...was told that they don't always get it in, but they would have some today. I asked about getting Air freight next Wednesday (only Air Freight on Wednesdays) and was told call on Monday to see if they have any.

Gonna cost me $20 extra per box for S&H in addition to COD Air Freight charges. Consider yourselves lucky if you can drive there and pick it up for next to nothing!

I was just reading a thread or two about OP...OP was gettin some S***.

Maybe the occasional troubles, but being local, you may know more...should I worry about them sending $400 rock cross country Air Freight?

That was when Mike first started selling wholesale to the public and he literally put several small lr sellers out or business, and made some nasty enemies, especially when he took over ebay. He had people doing anything possible to keep him off ebay and bad mouthing him all over the net to hurt his business. It's 6 months later and I haven't heard a single complaint since. That's pretty spectacular considering the thousands of pounds of rock he sells every month. Check his ebay feedback, I'm sure it's sparkling clean

They sell cases and cases everyday, if they were shady you'd hear a lot more bs about them. Don't let one guy's personal flame-a-ton hold you back.

Thanks...that's pretty much what I thought...

I hope he's got some MI rock next week...gonna try one box each Fiji and MI.

When I called, I talked with some girl (sounded kinda young)...would you reccomend I ask specifically for Mike, or just go ahead and simply place the order?

Man...you've been great for OP info...you should be a paid spokesperson for them!

I'm sure whoever Mike has on the phones will be fine, he has pretty close to a zero tolerance policy for sub-par anything.

I go out of my way to steer people to OP because they always make me look good.. I'm all about supporting high quality suppliers, and they are of the highest quality.

I was a freak about doing my research to find the best quality at the cheapest price, after all I'm a broke college student and a couple hundred bucks is a lot of money to me. I figure if I can save some other reefers bad experiences with old, nasty rock and some money, that's gotta be worth some karma.

Yup, I got to put a face on Bugsy when I delivered the monitor.

And the Van gets like 500 miles to a full 28g tank.

Dude, your words are greatly appreciated......... :D

Nothing but good karma to you :spin2:

thanks again.

i must make my contribution. I bought some rocks from them about 4 weeks ago.. really nice people, let me pick the rock out, helped me decide which was best, etc..

even gave me a free mangrove, how nice.

Nice...Not an option for me.

Thats for their rock "by the pound"...what about 50 lb boxes that they sell? I assume you get whatever is in the box....or no?
