Oceanic BioCube or Nanowave

Not sure why the Current Aquapod is not in the mix more here in this thread. Up here in the Seattle area it's the main deal going in stores, and everyone seems to love 'em I've spoken to.

So what makes the Biocube for example better than the aquapod? (or worth the extra $$)

xylem-is there anyway you could post some pictures of your filtration set up? I would love to set mine up the same way and have been looking for a skimmer that I can fit in the back, what kind of skimmer is it and does it work well?

I have an Ap12 and my boss just picked up a bio-cube 14 so i have been checking it out like crazy.
the bio-cube does appear to have superior craftsmanship.
Ap12 wins in the lighting department
I do like the stock set up of the return nozzle on the biocube by far better.
The bio-cube is almost silent with everything on where as the Ap12's cooling fans sound like they are going to lift off!
bio-cube= more gallons, better plastic work, improved return nozzle, hell the bottom glass even looked tinted suppose for BB people.

Ap12= more lighting and 4 chambers instead of 3 also a bit short for better light penetration to make even better use of the additional wattage

So all in all while the bio-cube is a few couple more gallons and prettier the Ap does have more raw power and is easier for the dyi fuge and cheaper.
I will be on the look out for the next all in one to hit the market before i purchase the larger version for my home use.

Wow thats a pretty nano xylem, and yeah can you plesase post some pics of your filtration system.. thank you

ohhhh and does any one knows if is possible to change the lights on the biocube for MH?

It is a Mystery Wrasse. My local pet shop had no idea what it was, I bought it for $30.00.

I will post filtration pictures soon.

The best modification I made to the tank was the lighting. I removed the stock light hood and threw it in the trash.

I got my hands on a used 24" Aqualight Pro. I cut it down to 15" in length. I replaced the 65 watt 22" Actinic lamps with 28 watt 13 inch lamps.

The final result is a 15" Aqualight Pro fixture with one 150 watt 10,000K Metal Halide, one 28 watt Actinic Compact Fluorescent and two one watt LED Moonlights

The fixture is supported by the mounting legs that come with the fixture.

I have an old Coralife air stone powered skimmer.

I believe Red Sea still sells a air stone powered skimmer.

The secret to an air stone skimmer is the air pump. I use the Coralife Luft Pump.

I stopped at the LFS today and seen the Bio-cubes in person and my impression is that they have the same build quality as my jbj nano 12 DX. They had all 3 sizes on display but they where empty, I will say that the silicone seams on the 29gal display looked horrible, really sloppy. Also the 29 gal is pretty massive especially when boxed. The 29gal was priced at $229.00 which is a great deal compared to the 24 aqua and jbj cubes but i would ask to open it so you could inspect the seams.
